Guardiola to be found out in the premier league

I am going to sound like a massive bore here but I am a massive fan of Pep, more his tactical outlook. My borderline obsession has led to me reading a few books about him / Barca . Bayern. I am currently reading "Confidential" by Marti Perarnau which is fantastically insightful.

Anyway, I digress.

The point I want to make is that it simply wasn't all plain sailing when he took over at Barcelona. They had some good individuals, yes, but they were also extremely unorganised. It isn't simply about throwing 11 great players on a pitch and hoping it comes off. Look at Jose last year at Chelsea as an example. The champions playing like an average, mid-table side. A team with Hazard, Costa, Courtois etc etc

At Barca, Pep brought through Pedro and Busquets, turned Pique and Messi from rough diamonds to absolute world beaters. It was completely down to Guardiola that Messi became this 'false 9' that people were lauding him for a few years ago.

He won 14 trophies because of his unbelievable coaching ability.

How there isn't an appreciation for him and what he's done, I have no idea.

because he's a tit

Bit off topic Mikey but what do you think of Roberts? I guess you've seen a fair bit of him in the SPL? Who do you think he'd do in the EPL and at city? Will he live up to the hype do you think?

I've been impressed with him

I think scoring against City in the Champions League could go either way really. Either Pep will be impressed by it and give him a chance or he'll be embarrassed by it and will bury him in the reserves to make him do some penance

He doesn't start that often for Celtic does he mate? Actual question, not on wind up. I've seen him like twice maybe and liked him.

Stats showed this.... stats showed that.... stats showed the other....

this is why I hate stats in football, they can be manipulated. They had more possession, they had more shots on goal, they had x amount of touches in the opposition box........ none of this means jack unless you stick the round thing in the net. That's the only stat I need to know.

He's not doing a full 90 every minutes no, but when he has played he's done well

Still young but I think he's got considerable potential

To me, the big stand out young player on Celtic's books at the moment is the young left back Tierney

He's been out injured for a while but once he's back fit he'll be an automatic starter. Man United have supposedly already been linked with him

Messi had scored 70 and had 26 assists in the three seasons before Guardiola took charge

Messi has just got better with age and experience

Not sure it is a terrible argument. Barcelona have had a style that was there before pep and after and he inherited the team when it was at its peak. It was a phenomenal side playing in a league of their own with madrid. It is fair to say you could have had no manager in charge and just put that team out every week and they would have won the league.

Honestly give me a young Messi allied to Thierry Henry and Eto playing in front of Xavi and Iniesta and I would manage them to win.

The Messi Guardiola inherited in 2008 was already the best player in the world. he is 29 now and beginning to decline slightly but remember the impact of seeing him first? He was a phenomenon. He as almost unbelievable. Messi made the Pep myth. No Messi no myth. Compare the turgid boredom of Spain's winning teams endlessly circulating the ball in their 1-0 wins to the coruscating brilliance of the Barcelona including Messi.

Messi made Pep not vice versa.

That's horseshite

Without Messi there is no Pep.

He created an insular culture at Barcelona and excluded everyone that didn't bow down at his feet.

His results at Bayern are comparable to Ancelotti
