Guardiola to be found out in the premier league

That's horseshite

Without Messi there is no Pep.

He created an insular culture at Barcelona and excluded everyone that didn't bow down at his feet.

His results at Bayern are comparable to Ancelotti

Yep, Something that seems to be glossed over imo

He failed miserably in the CL over there

Stats showed this.... stats showed that.... stats showed the other....

this is why I hate stats in football, they can be manipulated. They had more possession, they had more shots on goal, they had x amount of touches in the opposition box........ none of this means jack unless you stick the round thing in the net. That's the only stat I need to know.

Bringing this forward to the week-end games, Citeh had more possession, but couldn't beat Spurs (notwithstanding the non-award of a penalty to them, but Citeh's first was 'handball'). Equally, the RS had far more possession than Swansea, but were less potent in front of goal. These Managers like Guardiola, Klopp & Martinez need to wake up to the fact that 1) the modern game is NOT all about possession (a lot of possession is tippy-tapping in their own half); 2) statistics PROVE nothing in terms of results; 3) defending is every bit a part of the game as possession & attacking, 4) Leicester City were the template for the modern game last season, with their possession sometimes being under 30%, yet they were lethal in front of goal.

Conte at Chelsea has got it right at the moment with not giving possession away cheaply allied to quality players who can attack quickly, pass accurately, and score regularly.

are a kopite in which case stats will mean that you win all kinds of trophies such as the Most possession in the middle 22 minutes of the match in January, with the temperature not above 66 degrees, when the moon is in the seventh house and Jupiter aligns with Uranus trophy. Awesome.

Just seen that push on Sterling.
Blindingly obvious penalty perhaps not given because the kid didn't go to ground.
Some credence in what Ruud said, in that its cases like that that encourage players to chuck themselves to ground at the slightest contact.

In all probability it is fair to say that the quality that Messi and other players provided (Xavi, Iniesta et al.) obviously helped Pep gain success.

Nevertheless, perhaps it's also fair to say that to a point Pep supported and nurtured Messi's to reach the levels that he has eventually found.

Don't forget, Guardiola instantly wielded the axe at Barca to some of the more notorious prima donnas to let a new tranche come into the XI.

I do think he's been fortunate to have undoubted talent at his disposal and the PL is an new challenge, but he does deserve credit in his own right.

Yes, was the most successful Barça coach ever in 3 seasons, won their first ever treble and spent most of his tenure there covered in confetti

Nothing that Enrique isn't doing now without having Xavi/Inesta/Puyol in there prime

He took over at a time all the players there hit a peak

He was already the best on the planet when he took over, He was always going to improve regardless of the manager

Exactly like Ferguson then?
Or was he not all that either without Beckham / Scholes / Giggs / Rooney / Ronaldo (delete as appropriate)

Imagine judging a manager on his inability to win the CL with every club / every year.

It's the CL. A cup competition.

If it were as simple as the best team in the world wins it, then how have Porto ever won it?

Look at the FA Cup. Surely the PL winner and the FA Cup winner would be the same every year.

It's top notch stuff, this. Top notch.
