Too much. But if we can afford it so be it.
Swans are still laughing at us over how much we paid for Williams.
Crazy fees this summer for most teams. (n)

Tielemans went to Monaco for £21M
Matthias Ginter went to Gladbach for £15M

There's no other British clubs yet who've paid through the nose for players other than United, Liverpool and Arsenal....but in their case they at least get undoubted class, like Lukaku, Lacazette and Salah.

Yes your right Dave, let's see now Andy Carol 3 years ago £35m, undoubted class, Luke Shaw real bargain, hardly played £31m, again about 3 years ago. There are plenty of other examples from both of them clubs of wasted money. Arsenal under Wenger I will agree with. But if it suits your agenda against Koeman and Everton do carry on Dave.

You want to start playing with the big boys you've got to start walking the walk.

He's worth 40m based on his assists and goal record. If he played for Everton and some other club was interested we'd be demanding 50m.

When he signs people will realize how good he is and how much better than Barkley.

Good point raised earlier, some players like gana and sandro will save you loads, some players who ronko wants and offer zero risk of adapting to the prem like gilfi will mean paying what he's worth.

The line about not making at spurs is garbage he had players like bale and van der vaart in front.

John Stones £47m
Paul Pogba £89m
Raheem Stirling £44m
Oscar £60m
Martial £36m
Kevin De Bruyne £62.9

You could argue that non of the above went for going rate prices.
While I admire the moral point you make, it appears there are many teams being ripped off.
When Rio Ferdinand went to United for £30m in 2002 it was a record for a defender between British clubs for 13 years. He was what was needed at the time and became a mainstay in a great team. Maybe this is what we are trying to do?

If we take the moral high ground we lose out.
That is the market.
They can afford to be ripped off, their resources are limitless.

We are spending player sale cash and have to be a lot more prudent with it.

Transfer fees are a nonsense these days, so far removed from anything most of us can relate to that it's borderline ridiculous trying to argue or debate the rights and wrongs, as others have said, the money just keeps on going around with the only winners being agents and players.

For me Siggy's age is a concern, but we all know he's been a top target for RK for a while and it appears that Moshiri will continue to back his man, which is a good thing.

We're not playing with the big boys, we're not remotely on their level cash wise. We have no sugar daddy or huge commercial arm to fund this. It's being done as a once only trick after selling Lukaku and a few others in the first team squad to provide about £150M of spending power.

It needs to be spent a lot more wisely than throwing £30M at GKs with 22 matches under their belt and slow coach MFs from an ale house league and having the absolute piss ripped out of us by Swansea over a 27 year old with poor sell on prospects.

There's a few big differences between those players and Sigurdsson.

For one, they joined "top" clubs who had already spent money in a similar way.

Second, they were all considered to be potentially world class in quality.

Third, they were all young.

Sigurdsson is nearing 28, hasn't cut it at the very top level, and is at a team coming off the back of a poor season. He's not comparable.

As said a few times, Swansea are entitled to ask for £50m; but that doesn't change the fact that we'd be mad to pay it.
That Oscar deal was him going to China fwiw

when city are looking at 50 mil for kyle walker,i suppose gylfis valuation is the going rate!
better value abroad but its a bigger risk, siggurdson would hit the ground running.

Internal German transfers are never really high values.
