Dunno. He just has really, really weird stats.
He touched the ball almost the least of all midfielders per 90 minutes yet has the 6th most shots of any player in the league. Basically everytime he got the ball he either shot or put a cross in almost immediately.
That might be fine, it got him 6 goals and 5 assists from open play but people still seem to categorise him as someone who slips players through on goal with deft touches and playmakes as a #10.
He might be able to do that but that wasn't his game at all last season.

It does matter. To say some people aren't better than others is ridiculous. And for a midfielder their job is to create chances. You wouldn't make an argument about assists from throughballs not counting so why would set plays not count?
