2024/25 Harrison Armstrong

…of course he could, which is why it’s a huge risk sending him to manager who’s only concern is winning points and not player development. He won’t be allowed to make mistakes, he won’t be training every day with our coaches and international teammates. He’s just turned 18, he lives at home so he has that upheaval too.

It could work out but I’d much prefer him to be looked after at this stage.
100% this. Problem is Moyes is anti-youth. He should have given him some game time against Leicester but didn't. He could have used him in the Cup game and kept bringing him off the bench in the Premier League. Even Dyche did that. Packing him off to Derby with a manager that doesn't play decent football seems a strange one to me.

Yep the old logical fallacy of appealing to experts, total BS. Ignores the fact that another manager/coach could see the same player every day and take the opposite decision.
But the fact remains that football coaches generally know far far more about players than fans. They also have access to much more information and data. I would trust Moyes to make the right call over some random bloke on the internet. Dyche not so much. Most youth team players amount to nothing. Even the best ones of their age group can struggle. There are very few sure fire successes. Harrison has done ok but hasn't done anything to suggest he should be displacing any of the first or would have a significant impact off the bench against premier league opposition. He needs to show what he can do on loan.

I'm right. I didn't recall that.
Yeah sure you are Kev, you promoted an argument that football managers always know best and fans are clueless. Embarassingly you used Robinson as your example of this, when the manager who sold him was Silva  and one of the clueless fans was spot on the money about Robinson.

Lighten up. I didn't recall it. So when I said I didn't recall it I was completely right. If I'd said no one thought he would amount to anything then I would be wrong. But I didn't say that. So you one fan being right about one player on one occasion means fans are better judges than managers. Ok then.

This whole appeal to experts is BS, because football managers have wildly differing opinions about players. Not only that they have wildly differing views about playing young players. A lot of managers are so conservative that they wouldn't play a young player unless you held a gun to their head. You can't judge Armstrong until you actually give him a chance. This league season is going to be a right off, so why not give the guy time off the bench and some starts between now and the end of season rather than shipping him off to the Championship's version of Dyche?

😂If I had a pound for every time I have heard clueless fans say that about youth players. Professional managers and coaches (especially good ones like Moyes) will get these decisions correct the vast majority of the time. Not every time, but the vast majority of the time. We're still in a relegation battle and league position wins us money. It's not a Sunday league where everyone gets a game of they turn up. If Moyes thought he could contribute he would keep him. He doesn't so he hasn't. I would back his judgement over anyone on here.
