It's a joke, it really is - how our fans can waste their time on pedantry when there are people out there on the web coming up with opinions that's rendering our defence theoretically useless just before our European campaign.

FFS, only Everton, hopefully Blue Bill will mention something about this on Wednesday. Rediculous.

Are you suggesting they aren't entitled to their opinions?

I just don't know anymore mate.

I think that Jagz n Baines are professional and experienced enough to not read forums, and if they do to pay no attention to them whatsoever. I don't see a genuine correlation between England's failings at the WC and our Europa campaign.

It makes me sad and it makes me wonder what some users write about our captain!!!

He had a good game against Italy, and was at fault for the first goal from Suarez, but Jags has not played so bad, as some write here and England played also not bad!

And when I read some people that we should sell Jags, makes me angry!!!

Remnember folks, an England team with Terry and Cole played really bad in the group stage 2010 and demolished by germany in the last 16!

I can´t understand how some people have a question about Jags after 1 error in a world cup game against the 4th best team from the last world cup!!!

I hope and I think Jags will come back stronger!!!

You never beat Phil Jagielka

Jags as a CB is a good player. He does have his weaknesses like you say and I think also you are correct most of the top CB's have flaws.

This is why it is so important to have your 'partnership' correct. For me Distin and Jags and before that Lescott complimented each other, ones weakness being the others strengths and so on. Jags and Cahill are near enough carbon copies of each other they don't compliment each other very well and this is Englands problem in my opinion.

We are struggling for quality CB's in this country at the moment. Jags, Cahill and Lescott(not even in squad lol) are the best we have. Stones is far too wet behind the ears to be throwing in as Englands long term CB, but he is showing exceptional qualities so far.
Just as a thought - what's the worst that would have happened? England get knocked out after two matches?

It seems like England would have been better off with a young CB partnership to get them ready for the Euros and 2018. Varane is only 21 and he's the starting CB for France.

England is too conservative with youth.

There is no better centre back in the Premiership at the moment. Alan Shearer and Co. are even blaming him for Cahill's errors. Don't let the media propaganda get you confused, they'll be saying 'Woy' did a good job next.

I can agree but the way our media is they would tear Stonesy a new one and I wouldn't want that for the lad at this stage of his career. I still think Cahill and Jags are our best 2 at this moment in time.

It's easy to say in hindsight we should play youth but CB in a World Cup after half a season of first team appearances is a step too far even for the mighty John Stones.

As an Evertonian I don't want him near the side.

As an objective observer, it was apparent early on that England weren't winning. They should have treated it like Germany treated 2010. Don't worry about who's best today - who will give the best shot for the next few tournaments.

I would have brought Cahill and Jags, but they'd be there as backups and veteran leadership. Baines as well, even though he is the best English LB - he probably wasn't going to be first choice in 2016 or 2018 regardless of his performance, so he should have been behind Shaw to let Shaw prepare for the next tournaments.

Everyone says England don't have a Pirlo, or a Suarez. And they don't. But they could have a future Beckenbauer. He should have been there.

Jags best season as a pro footballer was his last one at Sheffield Utd. He was immense that season, I was shocked we got him for so little (basically 3M and Naismith).

As a matter of interest he is 2nd in the Castrol World Cup Index of best defenders and is in their current best eleven team. The only England player in there as well.

This thread is almost as laughable as it is rediculous. A non-fully fit Jagielka has two below average games with no protection from the midfield in a team that performed dreadful as a whole and now there's people posting that he's "very poor", that "Distin is better" and "if we got £5m for him I wouldn't be bothered if he was sold."

I dread to think what sort of crap you come out with at the game!
Can you actually read ? At his age how much more would you expect to get for him? Did I actually say I hate him and want rid ASAP like ? Nah I didn't. Some people read what suits them. At his age if Martinez could bring in someone younger to partner stones long term and the option was to sell a 32 year old who suffers with niggly injuries and some daft mistakes then yeah I wouldn't be too gutted . He made some silly errors last season and tbh I'd love in the next 12 months to have a young class central defence to build on for the next decade . Jagielka and distan can't go on forever and jags is the only one we would get any dough for.
