This. He put in a good shift when we needed him, no need to hate him because he's never match fit due to being surplus to requirements.
...players have a right to see out their contracts but they should be professional enough to step up to the mark when they are called upon. Heitinga's attitude has left him open to criticism.

Never minded JH up until he spat his dummy out after being dropped again the start of new season after his good half a season. I don't buy this whole he was dropped unfairly lark, he kept his place after jags injury. Jags remained on the bench the rest of that season inc the cup semi if I remember rightly.
Jags and Distin are both better defenders and have proved so over more than half a season. So I had no problem him being back to 3rd choice that following season, after let's not forget a shocking summer with holland. From that point he wasn't just unhappy at being 3rd choice again, he neglected to put the effort in, keep fit or give his all for the cause...

I actually thought he might have found a slot in a Martinez set up. In fact, Heitinga did say last week he prefers to play for Martinez, but it doesn't look like he's willing to fight for a spot in centre defence if/when Distin or Jagielka pick an injury up. He wants a WC plane ticket desperate.

Maybe he was promised a fair crack of the whip by Martinez, and having seen him in training/the odd match has told him he wont dislodge the Distin-Jagielka partnership? It was worth him hanging on for that knowing another window would be available.
As I said earlier, I think Van Marwijk will take him to Hamburg.
