Playing devil's advocate as I'd love to see him get game time for us but surely it's obvious why some could see it as a good thing? If he's denied a work permit again the earliest he could play for us is the 2020/21 season and we need funds to improve our squad now. If we could garner a big chunk of the funds through selling one player that's never kicked a ball for us and still might not be able to for another season then it's certainly understandable why we would cash in on him.
Despite the possibility of him turning about to be a genuinely class player that would be a key player for us there's also a possibility that he's far from being a 40 million pound player and isn't cut out for the Premier League. Just because Bayern apparently want him doesn't necessarily mean he's a player that can take us up a level, big teams can sign duds. West Brom were once getting ~30 mil offers for Berahino, ended up selling him for about 10 mil and he didn't score a goal until 3 seasons later after dropping down a division.
I think the transfer rumour is pure fiction but I think I'd rather see what Brands could get us with the 40 million for next season and replacing him with somebody who can play for us now rather than dodging the 40 mil, possibly waiting another season to see if he can get a work permit and then hoping he's up to standard in this league.
