Hilary Benn Sacked From The Shadow Cabinet - wider political debate

Not really, they at least can argue that stopping immigration will benefit their class.

This is more a debate for the other thread but let's see how that goes . The majority have voted to stop the idea of immigration when the majority of leave leaders state it's actually not inevitable whilst cutting EU investment into their regions . Certainly the investment into Wales would seem massively at odds with a vote leave decision by the working class .

Corbyn is untenable now, I say this as someone who voted for him but his position in the remain campaign was pathetic. Needs to bail because the Labour Party need to provide some sort of opposition soon.
The trouble is I don't think he will and he may well still have enough support to win another vote.

Mate, it might offend your sensibilities, but all MPs represent their constituents. Whether they voted for them or not.

Sure, they then do party stuff in Parliament, but the only people who can get there in the first place are their constituents.

The flip side of that though is that once they are there, there is ultimately nothing the constituents can do for five years if they disagree with how the mp behaves. Constituents don't have a whip to wield, unlike the parliamentary party and they don't have 'promotions' to offer.

If you have an mp who's ambition is to do the best for their constituents, then great but sadly a great number of them seem to be self promoting career politicians.

The problem is that the middle class are by far the most gullible people in the country.

Governments that make their commuting more expensive, make educating their kids more expensive, make their houses more expensive to buy, wreck their pensions, force them into paying for private healthcare by overloading care that they used to get for free, make saving more difficult and generally reduce the stability that the class requires to exist are the ones that they vote for.
Very hard to define who they are I would think.

Good lord he isn't gonna resign! Goodness knows what dregs he's gonna drag up to be in shadow cabinet?!

I said this when he was first appointed and received the usual tribal abuse. He has been an unmitigated disaster, the Labour Party deserves better than this fella.........

They have to be selected by their constituency organisation in order to stand, they all can be de-selected. What offends my sensibilities is MPs, who are so far removed from the grass roots of the party, trying to circumvent will will of the majority.

Why should he? All these resignations are from MPs who probably didn't vote for him in the first place. To claim they have suddenly realised that they don't think he is the best person for the job is the usual hypocrisy of the politician. I'd never heard of any of them anyway. If any MP can't handle democracy they should do one and we'll find someone who can. Labour will be a stronger opposition without these over-privilidged pretenders anyway.

Just because the public voted for him doesn't mean he just stay on, he has to prove he is good enough in the job..

How would he prove that then? Like Ed Milliband did? He hasn't had the opportunity to prove anything and won't until he gets his chance at a general election.
