Hilary Benn Sacked From The Shadow Cabinet - wider political debate

Status
Not open for further replies.
Theresa May skulks in the background during referendum keeping her options wide open and antagonising no wing of the Conservative party. She is hailed for her tactical nous and considered a worthy Prime Minister.

Jeremy Corbyn campaigns repeatedly for the Remain side, despite any previous personal views to the contrary, and delivers the Labour membership. He is torn apart for his lack of enthusiasm by press, professional politicians and commentators of all hues and told he is not worthy to lead the political party, despite a commanding election win a year ago.

Democracy, innit.

To paraphrase a headline in the Washington Post today,

The EU's biggest threat is the will of its people

Ironic, innit? That highlighted text above in the quote? There's your problem.

You mean democracy?

I mean the press, professional politicians and commentators of all hues. Democracy's the only thing as long as they're happy, but when they're not happy (see headline). That's what I mean.

Then it's that the ill-informed proles don't know their place, which is the real meaning of the headline. Let us straighten this out among us professionals...

Much less messy that way, you see. You see it on both sides of the pond.

Reps and Dems flinging poo over Hillary and Benghazi today over here.

Ah, sorry, misinterpreted your post. Been on the defensive a little too often today!

Valid criticism or not, that is a truly appalling comparison - May is a cabinet minister, Corbyn is the leader of his party. The leader of a party is expected to... errr... lead.

He will just win the vote of the members anyway. Not sure what happens to labour once that happens but it is clear the PLP are trying to manufacture it so that Corbyn needs support to even get on the ballot. Not sure how that works but time will tell.

This is an all out disgrace now. Labour effectively a hard left pressure group instead of an opposition party, all thanks to the pure ridiculousness of Jeremy Corbyn.
Agree, he's got more neck than a bag of giraffes fronting this out. Saw a tweet earlier saying him and McDonnell will fill roles in the Shadow Cabinet until he can find people to fill them.

Needs to go, now. They've got till Friday to get a grip of this mess or I'm cutting up my card and posting it back to them.

There's no difference between Momentum and the Tea Party taking over the Republican party in the USA.

Both extreme nutters that the centre ground would never vote for.

Labour is dead unless they expel Corbyn. As the middle ground will never vote for him or his personal lobby group.

The absolute danger is saying if he gets re-elected he will enforce rule changes to be able to remove dissident MP's or make them face mandatory reselection.

He needs stopping now, his head has fallen off.

He's effectively the 'carving up' the labour party at that point.

No one gave Corbyn a mandate to expel Blairites.

I voted Blair in the early 2000's. Do you honestly think I could ever vote Corbyn?

He's a danger to national security with his views

You could vote in 2000? I genuinely thought you were about 17, sorry mert.

It's not about who's a Blairite or not any more, not that momentum see it this way, but it's about saving the party with a credible, personable leader backed up by talented Mp's, not an arl trot supported by a racist and an Irish Republic Army sympathiser.
