Hilary Benn Sacked From The Shadow Cabinet - wider political debate

So Corbyn gets elected by what an uninvolved person sees as a rag tag of activists who hate the Labour Party, or at least what the modern incarnation of it represents.

And he then has the parliamentary authority to actually do absolutely nothing of consequence.

So, he then wants to have the authority to vet/select every PLP candidate in a future election, ergo, ensuring the probable wipe out of the said party he wants to be elected to lead.

Or have I misunderstood this on a frankly massive basis?

Asking for a friend.

Corbyn is on the ballot, which is right, and something I voted for yesterday at my CLP.

Corbyn will likely win the leadership election, at which point I will wash my hands of it all and let Momentum do something that their subscribers never seem to do and put in the hard yards, campaigning on door steps, delivering leaflets etc etc.

I will say this however, the actions of the PLP have given Momentum an easy cop-out when Labour sink even further.

Outside London & one or two other places, they don't seem to regard hard work as their thing. Very good with the loud mouthed stuff though.

Will Eagle pull out? She's utterly hopeless. How the hell can she convince people to vote for her instead of Corbyn?

She needs to pull out and Labour need to put forward a serious candidate.
I suspect she's the stalking horse. I think her challenge is aimed to get Corbyn out, were she to be successful, someone else will challenge her and hopefully rescue the labour party from the loony lefties who, while having admirable policies will never gain the support required to win an election across the nation. Prepare for a long period of tory rule folks.

I do think you have hit the nail on the head. I would reckon there are moves afoot to take over local party groups.

A very annoying outcome in terms of the near disastrous implications but the correct one as per the rules. Anything else would have been a complete stitch up and that would not have looked good either.

The problem with westminster...and the labour party in general.

Inherent bliarist nepotism. Westminster centric. He's got enough on his plate with Port Talbot; he ought to concentrate on that rather than his westminster mates
Yep, half the issues the party is facing now, could have been resolved if there had been proper selections in the New Labour years. We might have actually had some decent candidates for leader, and actually managed to introduce some policies to benefit the core voters.

Keep telling people, don't be so sure.

The tories are in turmoil, but the press haven;t made anywhere near as much of it as they have labour's problems.

Grayling will now be given a higher posting in the cabinet. He's been an utter failure in every position he's held, with his breathtaking arrogance.

Him, along with May's simpering to europe (She failed to get migration numbers down, and kowtowed to europe each & every time over abu hamza) that will no doubt raise further dissent of the eurosceptics.

And then there's the seats under investigation...
