Holgate Racially Abused By Firmino - The Guardian

The difficult thing for us is that jonjoes fat head got in the way.

And the fact it was in a foreign language.

And the fact that the ref ran so fast to get between them. Guaranteed if he didn't step Infront of holgate firmino was gonna grab his throat or something. You could see it.

Never seen a ref move so fast.

Lad, I hate the Kopite scumbags with a passion, as do the vast majority of blues - sticking up for them in this fashion is, in my opinion, an utterly bizarre thing to do.

There is a huge difference in sticking up for someone or something and not being willing to pick up the pitchforks and join in with a mob mentality. There is such a thing as acting as a devil's advocate. That is something which encourages debate.

Jumping into the gutter and hurling abuse does nothing. There was a incident between two players, we know very little, there is no conclusive evidence. Both Clubs have acted with great dignity and integrity and have left the FA to investigate something that should transcend Club rivalries.

Why can't we as fans do the same.

'An FA statement said it was alleged Rodriguez "used abusive and/or insulting words which included a reference to ethnic origin and/or colour and/or race".'

Exactly the same accusation as Holgate's will have been. He clearly called out at Holgate "puta" and then as per Holgates claim a racial epithet.

There can be no distinction here.

The VERY LEAST Firmino is looking at is a ban for abuse.
Cant call another professional the son of a whore mate.

That;s a ban right there and there is NO debate about that.

Seconded @davek. The word means something different in Portuguese than it does in Spanish. Maybe a claim could be made for it being abuse with a reference to sexual orientation or something of the sort.

No, I've accounted for the separate puta insult (which caries a ban all on it's own). That was followed by a volley of racism according to Holgate, and I'm inclined to believe our player over the word of a player from that House of Horrors.

No Dave you have showed a still of the TV footage and somehow tried to portray that as Firmino being racist. If Firmino had uttered racist language during the still you have shown then I wouldn't be asking for calm.

Holgate maintains he heard racist absuse, the ref and all but one player near say they heard nothing. The one player who now says he heard something initially said he heard nothing and changed his statement.
Evidence is still being sought. As there is now one "witness" they feel they can't just close the case. As yet they have nothing.

^^

From a mate of mine who works in football.

Everybodys calm, we are just waiting for a judgement.

There were enough people around the incident, so we just need to wait for the evidence and a conclusion.

That is exactly what I have been saying. Wait for the evidence and come to an informed decision as to what actually happened.

Liverpool act with dignity?

Encourage debate with kopites?

You're dead weird.

What both Clubs said.

Liverpool

“The club and player will fully co-operate with the relevant authorities to ensure the facts are established in a thorough manner if deemed necessary or requested,” said a Liverpool spokesman.

“While that process is ongoing we will not be making any further comment.”

Everton manager Sam Allardyce was asked in his post-match press conference whether the incident was sparked by an alleged racist comment and said:

“I’m telling you nothing until whatever systems are used to find out exactly what happened and what didn’t happen.

“I’m here to talk about football, not about controversial incidents. I only want to talk about football.

“Anything else outside of that that happens has to be dealt with by the authorities.”

Give me that over one player making allegations on social media and another threatening legal action everyday of the week.

As for debate with kopites a good proportion of my extended family support the darkside. What do you suggest not speaking to them, not a bad idea with the mother inlaw. I am a child of the 80's when Merseyside had the two best teams in the Country and there used to be plenty of banter but very little bile.

About anything football related?

Definitely - the club turns apparently normal human beings into, vile, egotistical, clueless, victim playing, racism apologists.

That's before we get into the murderous, paving slab throwing, [Phrase removed] amongst them.

As I said, your defence of them, coming from an Evertonian is dead weird.

Dignity FC here.
