Holgate Racially Abused By Firmino - The Guardian

i find it incredibly strange that Firmino hasn't been charged.

Does that mean, as Rodriguez has been charged, the FA have a water-tight case against him but nothing on Firmino?

Because if there is currently no real proof against Rodriquez, why has he been charged? Shouldn't both accused be treated the same?

This can only pan out one way, and that's a witch hunt against Holgate.

They'll have some serious explaining to do if Rodriguez is charged and Firmino isn't.

The Rodriguez one is a bit weird in the sense that if you read Bong’s interview on French tv afterwards he makes it sound like Rodriguez hasn’t said what he’s claimed.

Just another example for me of how it’s a good thing Everton have kept things private in this situation.

that Rodriquez one is mad, he's only said he's got bad breath hasn't he? and that WBA feller is saying he's said it because he's black

what we thinking here then? think it's a disgrace me, how's he been charged for that!

It seems the only person who is claiming it is holgate, which is similar to the Rodriguez one, but there are two things here: the ref was there and CLAIMS he didn't hear it, and secondly the FA would hate to charge a LFC player with this. Look at the victimisation they claim for Suarez, look at how a linesman had the temerity to give a pen against them and the natiowide hand wringing over it. They are treated differently.

I think Rodriguez has much more of a defence on the accusation of racism than Firmino does.

Sure, he's insulted the other player (picture proof of it in fact in holding his nose), but there's nothing really to suggest it was on the grounds of skin colour. Whereas Holgate has had a derogatory term thrown at him purely based on his skin colour.

I think is this all going through mediation between the two parties involved.

Not enough evidence to charge so they are trying to resolve through talking it through.

Like you would with marital problems.

The Rodriguez case destroys any such notions that there's not enough evidence to go forward. And the FACT that Firmino is bang to rights on the abusive language element of this case will alone ensure it goes forward to a charge.

It's obvious that this was all straightened out on the night. The fact that we haven't heard a peep from anyone since suggests this.

Always different rules for the RS nothing will change on that front.Salah and lallana both exaggerated contact to win penalties nothing happens, Niasse does it gets a 2 game ban.The scum bags get away with murder.(No pun intended) but 39 Italians can't be wrong.

Saying that though mate, and just playing Devil's advocate here. Kenny was right next to Firmino, he actually had hold of him when Holgate reacts to what he heard, so if Kenny didn't hear it, then the ref who was further away from Firmino, and had players all round him in his ear, then it must have been hard for him to have heard anything. Also, just because the ref said he didn't hear anything doesn't mean he is saying nothing was actually said.
