Holgate Racially Abused By Firmino - The Guardian

They'll just blame Holgate for it and the delusion will continue.
Already are. It's false claims like Holgates that are ruining the legitimacy of claims like Brewster's etc.

Despite the FA and Uefa drawing almost the same conclusion - Holgate did it to escape a manslaughter charge for pushing Firmino, but Brewster's was in the middle of a match with no reason to make a dishonest claim, so obviously legit.

Absolute vile set of mutants.

When I was young watching the inbetweeners faggot was an acceptable word. Not saying it is now but taking in the context of the times. I was brought up like a similar way many of the lads on here that homosexuality was wrong, when you mature you become more tolerant of people. If being homophobic is a crime 90% of lads under 20 are guilty of it. I was brought up similar to Mason, that gays are to be mocked but I grew up like him. We all make mistakes when we're young, can't punish him now.

If you were young when the Inbetweeners was out then you’re not very old now (aired 2008) and as such I’m horrified you admit to being brought up thinking homosexuality was wrong. That sort of mentality growing up was wayyyy back.

I was 16 when The Inbetweeners came out and I definitely wasn’t raised with that sort of mentality.

Their is no limit to their hypocrisy. Offended by everything, ashamed of nothing. Scum club.

First of all, if I have missed anything here then will happily back down. But...it seems completely wrong to me that the 'Kick if Out' Campaign have decided to be very vocal about the verdict with Brewster and yet I don't remember anything being said after the Firmino/Holgate incident. In fact, the outcome of the investigation is also identical to the Firmino/Holgate one:

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...fa-investigation-spartak-moscow-a8243531.html

“The inspector took statements from five players from both teams, as well as from two match officials, who were in the vicinity of the alleged incident. None of these heard any discriminatory words."

“Leonid Mironov was also interviewed by the inspector and stated that he indeed swore at Rhian Brewster, but he unreservedly denied using any discriminatory language."

The statement added: “After concluding his investigation, the inspector found no evidence to corroborate the allegations, which he believed were made in complete good faith by the Liverpool player Rhian Brewster."

“Therefore, the Uefa control, ethics and disciplinary body, following the recommendation of the inspector, established that there was no evidence that would legally support sanctioning the FC Spartak Moskva youth player Leonid Mironov and thus decided to close the disciplinary proceedings.”

The reaction of the Liverpool fans online has once again been absolutely disgusting to go along with their treatment of Patrice Evra for West Ham the other week. Their hypocrisy is staggering.
Totally understand the point you're making, but I've said in here before, I think it's important to remember that we don't really know what Holgate wants in this situation. He's the important one here, and it's at danger of being forgotten in a rush to point score and grab the moral high ground. If he doesn't want the incident to be a huge deal for whatever reason then we should respect that, not assume that he isn't being given the support/backing that he needs.

Hot take here, it’s actually Holgates fault that the Russian who allegedly abused Brewster got away with it

No mate, the only "this is why" statement to conclude from that is "this is why social media shouldn't be given to utter simpletons to air their moronic views in public

Without wanting to speak for someone else, I assumed what he meant was that as young lads many of us used words as insults which may be thought of as offensive and homophobic. I know that when I was a teenager - i'm not that much older than you - it was pretty standard to use words like those Holgate tweeted as a generic insult. As you get older/the world changes, you realise that language like that isn't very pleasant.

The point is, the tweets I saw from Holgate (apologies if I've missed something) weren't explicitly homophobic in the way that the Andre Gray tweets were. He wasn't actually calling out the gay community, just using language which unfortunately reinforces some stereotypes. I'm with @JelavicBrate2 in that I know I've been more than guilty of doing that in the past. Let he who has not made/laughed at a comment on here about The Lisbon cast the first stone.

Think there's two types of people really, those who admit to their mistakes and liars

I'm guessing that 90% at least of the lads on here or in general tbh, of any age between 15-50 still use with certain friends or even certain members of their family words that could easily be seen as homophobic. I'll also guess the vast majority aren't and never have been homophobic.

I'll also guess that a huge amount of lads who've been narked off at some players have used words other than ones they type on forums like he's a coward or spineless in the heat of the moment. Again those words would be seen as homophobic when in reality the intent isn't there imo to make then such.

We live in a world now, where every comment made is perceived to have been said with the worst of its implications, yeah the reinforcement of stereotypes does enable genuine bigotry to fester or be tolerated, but it's still becoming more and more a pc mad world mind.

I thought this was supposed to be a football site? All this hot air, accusations, abuse, prejudice, hypocrisy is out of place here and should be on one of the many sites available to whingers and their opponents to battle it out for ever more. Rivalry between fans should be about football issues not whose footballer is thicker or more racist than another.

I agree mate. As you mature you realise how immature you were sometimes and how hurtful you could have been or have been when younger.

I agree.

But they're definitely more racist than we are

I agree on this, however our rivals are a racist football club, football played by racists and supported by racists

I stand second to no one in my prejudice in the footballing sense against LFC. In a footballing sense only, I loathe them. But I have never associated them or any other club as racists or supported by racists. They have some racist supporters, don't we all? We are all a cross section of society. They are certainly abominable in their arrogance but again that is football based.

Certainly. Stone cast. As the butt of this sort of humour in the past, I'd say the language is pretty important. More important though is the moronic mindset that propels the tongue.
