Holgate Racially Abused By Firmino - The Guardian

Why are people surprised? A club with absolutely no morals so far up their own backside that they can’t see their own hypocrisy. Laughable that they’re trying to demand better standards from UEFA after their own history with racist incidents. Offended by everything ashamed of nothing.

I posted on one of Brewsters instagram posts last night "unlucky with the investigation lad, well done for speaking up, doesn't matter who you play for, and not to bring an agenda but I don't see any blues calling you a liar on these comments like mason's" (its obvious im a blue my avatar is everton players) and a Liverpool fan said "respect" and put a blue and red circle next to it

so there is 1 Liverpool fan who isn't a total tool, suppose that's a start haha

This isn't a court of law.

In people's minds there will always be a suspicion that he is a racist that slipped the net.

He's permanently tarnished now, unable to prove his innocence and with the football authority unwilling to absolve him.

A racist who slipped through the net? The country is full of racists. It's something that will never be stamped out of general life, never mind football. Permanently tarnished? I'm pretty sure the world in general isn't that bothered. Holgate pushed him, at speed over the hoardings, he's lucky he didn't get lamped mate. I am not condoning racism at all as I am mixed Malay and received a torrent of abuse growing up. But in no way did it effect me. It taught me to be driven in the face of adversity and also how to fight back when required. Also what I am not condoning is the awful push by Holgate knowing he was protected by 10 other team mates and a referee. If he'd have tried that out in the pub, he would've been deservedly knocked out. His actions were cowardly and fuelled an unnecessary situation. The whole thing is a farce that deserves no attention whatsoever! Bloody footballers!

well I think most kopites on twitter look pretty silly at the moment after calling Holgate a liar and basically the same verdict has happened to their own player. its bitter sweet to reply to all the tweets now but were better than them in respect of stuff like this. I feel for the Brewster kid reading the tweets some of the kopites sent out over Holgate

willing to bet my entire earthly belongings that holgate will get boo'd by them at goodison if he plays, same as evra, same as anyone who points out how bitter, twisted and delusional they are

'respect' means f*** off in portuguese mate I'd watch out

First of all, if I have missed anything here then will happily back down. But...it seems completely wrong to me that the 'Kick if Out' Campaign have decided to be very vocal about the verdict with Brewster and yet I don't remember anything being said after the Firmino/Holgate incident. In fact, the outcome of the investigation is also identical to the Firmino/Holgate one:

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...fa-investigation-spartak-moscow-a8243531.html

“The inspector took statements from five players from both teams, as well as from two match officials, who were in the vicinity of the alleged incident. None of these heard any discriminatory words."

“Leonid Mironov was also interviewed by the inspector and stated that he indeed swore at Rhian Brewster, but he unreservedly denied using any discriminatory language."

The statement added: “After concluding his investigation, the inspector found no evidence to corroborate the allegations, which he believed were made in complete good faith by the Liverpool player Rhian Brewster."

“Therefore, the Uefa control, ethics and disciplinary body, following the recommendation of the inspector, established that there was no evidence that would legally support sanctioning the FC Spartak Moskva youth player Leonid Mironov and thus decided to close the disciplinary proceedings.”

The reaction of the Liverpool fans online has once again been absolutely disgusting to go along with their treatment of Patrice Evra for West Ham the other week. Their hypocrisy is staggering.

In light of both decisions, why would any black player highlight racist abuse?

I’m all for evidential basis and all that but the vitriolic comments of Kopites and the poor communication from the FA certainly doesn’t promote a whistleblowing culture.

Kopites fuming over this after the stick they gave Evra just a few days ago, something else to play the victim over while the poor kid Brewster must be distraught inside.

Appalling double standards really. Only difference I can see is Liverpool have publicly backed him, whereas Everton didn't really do it with Holgate.

The calls for Holgate to be banned for lying look even more ridiculous given the verdicts are almost identical.

But imagine being a player at Liverpool watching them publicly support Suarez, t shirts and all, boo and jeer Evra, call him out as a liar, brand Holgate a liar while praising Firmino for 'continuing his great form' then have their fans profess to back Kick racism out of football.

Racism may not have affected you but that doesn’t make it right. The days of shrugging it off are rightly over as it is unacceptable in any instance.

Your logic is equating a push in the back to treating a person as lesser than you because of their ethnicity. Really? Where does that road lead?

If Firmino had come back and shoved Holgate then fair enough, quid pro quo. But he didn’t, he chose to degrade him.

Attributing any blame to Holgate for hearing racist comments directed at him is poor logic indeed.
