Holgate Racially Abused By Firmino - The Guardian

Who’d have thought a Mirror journalist on Sunday supplement saying that we’ve seen everything that was said on the footage bigging up the use of a lip reader , that seems at odds with Kenny’s head being in the way which is what I saw .

Just following on from the article they posted last night where it says they've watched it and a lip reader says he didn't say anything racial. Pretty sure they've only seen it from the same angle as us as it doesn't explain why Holgate flips

Right from the very start the mirror jumped behind the line of nothing happened, the bit in the article which is revealing was the line about nothing I could see suggested any racial insult, from the lip reader, hmm ofc it wouldn't, because no coverage has shown the last words said to Holgate which he reacted too.

Pretty sure the mirror are not privy to any as yet unseen camera angles of the incident.

What should happen is in these cases admitting guilt prior to a hearing/investigation carries a set ban - say 6-8 games, contesting it and denying it results in a 6 month ban from all competitions.

Because right now lfc will be really quiet on the matter until they find out what evidence they have, and deny it or accept it depending on what they are shown.

I said to the missus last night during my 2nd night of heated conversation about it....if he's found guilty they should throw the book at the club and not just the player becsuse there is a deep rooted issue going on at that club of he's found guilty. To have 1 player found guilty of it ( and defending him ) was bad enough, 2 have 2 players found guilty.....hmmm I'd expect steps to be taken to re educate that club about whats expected of a professional football club.

I think most kopites are going of the footage only believing what they see, so when Kennys head gets in the way they can't see anything so it doesn't count. Therefore Firmino isn't racist in their eyes,

Why would a young footballer in the world's eye want the attention that a racism case brings. Holgate doesn't strike me as the type, you don't see him in the paper like other players

I'm inclined to believe him.

The thing that’s burning my head out most about it is how blinkered the rs are about it. Heard a few saying ban holgate for pulling the race card. He may have been abused, he may have misheard him, but ya can tell from his reaction he isn’t lying. He looks like he genuinely thinks he got called that, whether he did or didn’t.

If that was one of ours I’d stick by the player until ya find out properly but I wouldn’t blindly believe him, and I wouldn’t come down on holgate because he had the audacity to be upset that he thought someone had dropped the n-bomb on him.

Gang of cretins
I bet they said the same about Evra. In fact, some of the ones I know basically accused him of lying and being a s*** stirrer.

Why hasn’t Firmino come out and denied it?

He's been told by the club to keep quiet aboit it and only the pr department of Liverpool has been allowed to speak about it publicly since the incident. The same for us though which is why Holgate hasn't been able to come out and confirm if he heard it 100%.

Like @BlueToff said we'v now just got to let them get on with the job of sorting out.

Only way this blows up publically sooner is if video evidence is seen where he does/doesn't say it and it's seen clearly

You mean as in the Spanish version of the N word not the English/ American version? That would make more sense

It's not the Spanish word for 'the n word' it's the Portuguese word for black. It has no specific offence as a word in Portuguese. Of course if he said 'you black b"#-#' that would be offensive. There is no equivalent word with that power in Portuguese. It's the context it's said in. Obviously if he screamed 'negro di.... ' in his face that's rascism.
Oh. In Brazilian terms Firmino would certainly not see himself or be seen as black.

Don’t buy it. If you know that you’ve done nothing wrong you deny it. This stinks of them hoping there’s no/not enough evidence.

Fans and players found guilty over the last few years. There looks to be a problem with racism there.
