There are liverpool fans who want Holgate banned saying he's playing the race card to get out of being sent off, which is a decent theory given the lack of evidence.

Biggest thing for me, albeit speculative, is the fact you clearly see Holgate isn't bothered while he's being called a puta then Kennys big head appears blocking the view. Firmino says something else and Holgate flips and puts his hands on the ref. A big no no.

There's a clear process A-B-C-D. But the Firmino support is going straight from A to D. Ignoring C which is the unknown.

It's all about what got said at C. And seeing as we don't actually know as you say mate its all speculation

So Holgate planned to push Firmino into the stands, get a reaction and then snared Kenny into his masterplan by ensuring he blocks the only tv angle at just the right time so nobody can see what Firmino said?

That is up there with the moon landing and 9/11 conspiracies.

Either Firmino said something racist or Mason misheard what he said. Anyone suggesting he purposely pulled the race card is a tool.

Every derby they make these accusations, there must be about 55k cameras at Anfield every year yet there’s only even been 1 fan actually doing what they say.

But I agree with you. I've been going to Anfield for years and personally never seen or heard one reference to Hillsborough yet every derby they seem to claim it. Probably because they manipulate the always the victim chant in to what they want it to be about.

A bit like they're seeing what they want to with this incident too. The professional lip readers on Twitter dismissing any wrongdoing by Firmino, without knowing the full story and by going off what they have interpreted before the alleged offensive word/s were used.

I would hope that Liverpool ask him outright given their stance on Brewster and if he admits it then come out publicly and punish him.

If he denies it then they are right to stick by him until proven guilty.

If he has, he should serve a long ban himself. But there is far more to this investigation than we can possibly know, current TV angles don't have any evidence of Firmino's guilt, but different angles and the ref's mic should hopefully have the whole story. With Liverpool's recent and distant history of shameless racism, I know which side I'm erring on for now

I’m not sure their silence is any indication of guilt, it’s probably the best way to handle it as Everton have done the same and not commented.

There hasn't been anything, even the "we have had an expert lip-reader examine the footage..." article that appears every weekend after someone says something they shouldn't have.

Been reading all their fans calling for Holgate to be banned if it’s found no case to answer ffs. It’s clear as day that Holgate hears something offensive and reacts accordingly. Maybe he misheard or maybe he’s easily offended. The lad isn’t going to completely fabricate a reaction though.

All players know there's cameras on them and know lip readers are employed to decipher what they're saying. It's why you always see them covering their mouths when they talk.

There's no way Holgate would lie about it knowing a camera would be likely to immediately refute that claim.

There's no doubt in my mind that that club has employed another racist. And that their peculiar supporters have backed the wrong horse again.

There is picture evidence that is on Twitter of the gesture. Don't want to post it on here.

Pictures don't always tell a full story but given that someone right near him is doing a wall pushing gesture, i'm not confident that this lad isn't referencing Hillsborough.

It won't be. It's Kopite propaganda they turn out everytime we play a derby.
