Holgate Racially Abused By Firmino - The Guardian

After the final whistle went they'd have known...all of them including Allardyce.

It's a pretty dire team spirit we have if all of them aren't 100% looking for justice.

Did Allardyce think in any way it was debateable?

What is it you want him to say? Accuse Firmino outright without knowing the facts. Im sure the whole club believes Mason but he cant go blindly throwing accusations out himself when he was nowhere near it

I suggested this earlier:

... he could, if he was of a mind to, have said that "Liverpool is a club that's been through this stuff in the past and I'm sure they'll be doing everything to have a word with their lads and reminding them of that to stop a recurrence of it".

Something like that, just to gain media attention and associate the Holgate situation with a proven case of racial abuse.

Allardyce Walsh and Holgate went and met the referee afterwards to file the allegation in his report. Using the post match presser to sway the investigation is the type of thing that deluded old bitter fart Dogleash would have done.

Can you imagine them punishing a player adamant he was racially abused and letting his alleged accuser walk away scot free?

Not even the divvies at the FA are that insensitive.

IMO Firmino will be (wrongly) cleared but both he and Holgate will get a couple of matches ban for provoking an altercation.

Exactly. A 2-3 match ban for a push?! That's not right

Sometimes Dave the sensible, mature and intellectual approach is to hold your tongue, follow the process and ensure action is done professionally.

Talking to the press and saying the incorrect thing (or to be perceived to do so) can conflict the issue further; Sam has acted spot on for me.

If the allegation is found to be true and the FA deal with Firmino firmly, then it'll be the time to talk about it - still, best to be magnanimous.

That's just real politik. There is no harm whatsoever in stating that you know your own player and aren't happy that he feels a sense of injustice over the incident on the pitch.

That prejudges no decision to be made but makes it harder for those taking a decision to simply view it as a physical altercation...it was more than that, it was also a VERBAL altercation. Some parts of the media got that but others chose to just concentrate on the push and shove of it all.

I know that you are well established in your 'let's look for ways to criticise the club' role @davek,
but I do think you are scraping the barrel with this one mate.
Not commenting publicly proves that the leadership is crap and their is no team spirit. OK lol

Sometimes it is...but not when you're dealing with the FA.

Very poor recent posts from DaveK, hijacking a thread about an important situation and trying to steer it away from the actual issue with anti manager nonsense
