Originally planned to go to Crete this year, however decided now to look at places outside Europe.

Thinking of the Florida keys (key west, key largo) Any advice or knowledge of this area would be most welcome.

Just wanna laze about and drink rum.
 
Just got back from a weekend in Oslo. Very cool city if not a bit expensive/cold. Will go back in summer at some point for sure.

Rest of year, planning on South France early summer and then maybe Croatia. Anybody got any advice for sleepy beach towns in Croatia?

You'll struggle to find a beach in Croatia that's for sure. Shingle coves and dramatic cliff coastline is what you get.
I've fallen for the place. Lack of beaches keeps the UK hordes away and makes them favour the Costas and so on. Result being it's not overrun by tourists.
I favour the Istrian peninsular. I've stayed in Porec, Pula, and am booked to go to Rovincz in July which is the best time to go weather wise. I have also holidayed in Markaska down the Dalmatian coast and that was good.
Absolute loads of options for accommodation be it hotels rentals or whatever. Cheap to eat out and bevy, honestly give it a whirl I don't think you'll be disappointed. Another bonus for me at least, just over 2 hour flight time.

Key West is the main area where things are going on. Lots of bars with live music etc...
Key Largo does not have much happening unless you are hiring a boat etc...Its just the first Key you come to when driving down.
There is plenty going on along the drive from Key Largo to Key West depending on what you want out of the trip.
Islamorada has more restaurant's and bars then Key Largo and is only about 20-30 miles further on.
From personal experience I would say maybe stop for a couple of nights at various keys on the way to or from Key West but spend most of your time there.

Nice one, cheers dude. I've been to Pula for a music festival years ago and seem to remember pebbly beaches to laze on. We love swimming, bathing so would you recommend anywhere in particular for that sort of thing? Krka National Park near the Dalmation Coast looks amazing! Been there?

Lots of good advice here. Would recommend Pennekamp State Park for snorkeling and the beach at Bahia Honda
 
3 nights Kiev in April
11 nights Dominican in July
Then Dubai, Singapore and Kuala Lumpur over 2 weeks in October so far. not been to any before so any suggestions on things to do would be great.
