We were there a couple of years ago and if I was going back now I would probably just do a day in Key West and get out again - far too rammed and touristy - but lots to do, restaurants etc., so depends what you‘re after.

Really liked Miami, so would factor a couple of days there if you like cities.

I can understand that, especially if you went in peak season, we were outside of peak so not as rammed. We did a couple of days in Miami Beach first but it was pretty fun down in parts, not what I was expecting really

You'll struggle to find a beach in Croatia that's for sure. Shingle coves and dramatic cliff coastline is what you get.
I've fallen for the place. Lack of beaches keeps the UK hordes away and makes them favour the Costas and so on. Result being it's not overrun by tourists.
I favour the Istrian peninsular. I've stayed in Porec, Pula, and am booked to go to Rovincz in July which is the best time to go weather wise. I have also holidayed in Markaska down the Dalmatian coast and that was good.
Absolute loads of options for accommodation be it hotels rentals or whatever. Cheap to eat out and bevy, honestly give it a whirl I don't think you'll be disappointed. Another bonus for me at least, just over 2 hour flight time.

Been over to Croatia twice and lived it. First time had a couple of days in Split first and did some trips out, Krka National Park was great, I believe Plitvice is amazing. We then headed over to Hvar island and did you boat trips to other islands from there.
Second time was last September, went to Dubrovnik and did some trips from there before heading up the coast to Makarska. Loved it all, even managed a day trip to Mostar. Would definitely like to try up the Istrian riviera as that all sounds great too

Go for it.
The coastline on the peninsula is fantastic. I cba booking independent and go package. But locals tell me that renting a house for a period of time is well worth it.

We haven't nailed down a spot yet mate as we're looking at turning it into a bit of a walking holiday. My brother went last year so is writing down a few suggestions. Heard it's a very undererrated country.

Only spent a few days in Bled and Ljubljana but they were brilliant. Lots of the smaller towns look incredible too. I don´t think you can go wrong.

I went to Ljubljana last August on an excursion from a cruise ship. Really lovely town with lots of character.
Then went on to Lake Bled. It was very busy in August, but, really beautiful. We went for a swim in the lake, but, not easy to get out of the water afterwards.

How much is a beer mate?
Domestic stuff like Castle is dirt cheap. Imported stuff a bit pricier in comparison, but still cheaper than you'd pay in the UK.

Having said that, there are so many great South African wines and they are ridiculously cheap too, so I spent more time on that than beer. When mrs. Tree and I were there it was 16 rand to the £, and we were buying wine at 40 or 50 rand for a bottle which, in terms of quality, would be £15+ per bottle in the UK.

Eating out was equally good value. We sent the bill back on a couple of occasions because we thought we'd been undercharged by so much that we must have been given another table's bill by accident.

Unless you`re going in a high end hotel ( usually full of Germans ) I`d avoid Malta like the plague.

It`s a dump and if you`re looking for a lads holiday it`s 100% the wrong place at this time of year.

It`s one of the only two places in the world that I`d never go back to, Gibraltar being the other one - another dump.
Rhyl is starting to look like the better option. I might take the horse and cart.

Been to Croatia 3 times. Fantastic country. Stayed in Porec, Dubrovnik and Umag. Day trips to Lake Bled and Venice, watched Tennis at the Croatian Open in Umag and some lovely boat trips. Highly recommended.
