Slovenia is beautiful.....like a better version of the Lake District....make surprisingly good wine too.
Well I live in the Lake District so guess I’ll be a good judge!

Domestic stuff like Castle is dirt cheap. Imported stuff a bit pricier in comparison, but still cheaper than you'd pay in the UK.
Having said that, there are so many great South African wines and they are ridiculously cheap too, so I spent more time on that than beer. When mrs. Tree and I were there it was 16 rand to the £, and we were buying wine at 40 or 50 rand for a bottle which, in terms of quality, would be £15+ per bottle in the UK.
Eating out was equally good value. We sent the bill back on a couple of occasions because we thought we'd been undercharged by so much that we must have been given another table's bill by accident.
Will doSounds like you've done your research. Everything you've said is spot on.
Come back on after your trip and give us your experience.
Was up in the Cairngorms last summer with the family and had a great time.Cape Verde in June with wife and then Cairngorms in September with the grown up kids joining us for walking and eating/drinking in pubs.

No mate. Stayed on the black isle last year but did a lot of travelling. Furthest north we got was Ullapool. The west coast is exceptionally beautiful (east coast and speyside ain’t too shabby either).
I’ve done Skye a few times and the torridon’s as well. All stunning. There’s loads to do with the family and the seafood is amazing. The beaches are beautiful, just a shame that the weather is usually crap!
If your going up north then I suggest you take the west coast route either on your way there or on your way home, you won’t regret it.
If you don't mind wearing this you'll be fine. You can't escape them up the west coast.
