We scraped to two 1-0 wins agains Norwich and Sheff Utd and beat Leicester at home after being second best for most of the game.

we lost at home to Bournemouth and scraped a draw with villa and Southampton at home too.

The performances have been below awful at times, some of the worst stuff we’ve seen in a long time, but we will just have to wipe the slate clean and assess him when he gets rid of the dross.

We had to sack Silva because we were in the bottom 3. We had a mini revival under Dunc. But then we avoided relegation by 15 points. A huge margin really.

So I dunno what people expected really. A team who Silva was unable to get an average of even 1 point per game, were not suddenly going to become world beaters. The minute Ancelotti took the job he'll have been fully aware he could only do so much and he needed time, money, and a squad overhaul.

80% of our problems come from a midfield unit who are not mobile and do not like to tackle or press efficiently. I don't know any football manager who tells players earning millions of pounds per year to go onto the field and deliberately pull out of challenges and walk about.

Marco Silva played the same formation week in, week out; no matter what. Ancelotti at least as the brain to try and influence games from the touchline

the main issue is that when your right wing options consist of theo Walcott or Alex Iwobi, and a partner for Gomes consists of Tom Davies or Gylfi Sigurdsson I think the issue is plain to see

It’s pretty simple to see, he’s setting his tactics now and those that don’t adapt will be shifted out.

Modern football fans are the absolute worst

Exactly.

Silva - 14 points from 45
Ancelotti - 30 points from 60

Same group of players.

Exactly.

Silva - 14 points from 45
Ancelotti - 30 points from 60

Same group of players.

Silva 0.93 points per game
Ancelotti 1.5 points per game

That's an effective 61% increase in our points per game.

Am I happy with an average of one win and one loss for every 2 games? Definitely not.

Is a record like that a heck of a lot better than we had under Silva? 100%.

He's done well given the contraits. The tactically flexible manager we've needed for beards. Hoping and praying he actually kicks us on from here.

Yes they are in the main a poor group of players, but worried that he couldn't get them to at least put the basic level of effort in.

It’s impossible to start a thread about Ancelotti and keep the players out of it. People are either genuinely thick or stupidly naive. Current squad is the worst we’ve had in over 20 years. Not one of them give a rats arse about this club, Coleman and Richarlison the exceptions. Not even any of your flavours of the month could get this current crop performing as a team and playing well consistently.

At the outset I would have liked a "statement" win just because it would have been a monkey off our backs, to some degree, and rather more tangible proof of the effect that we hope Ancelotti can bring.

There has been some improvement, marginal, since he arrived. We have to remember the position we were in when Silva was sacked.

It's simple in theory. He has to be allowed the time and resources to re-shape the team, ad we can start to assess with more insight once that process is underway.

His recent comments about the team/squad have been a bit more revealing, if diplomatic. I think he is saying that we are capable of better when everyone turns up with the right attitude, but that he cannot really bring that under his control, to ensure that collective attitude is right and/or better more often than not. I'm not sure whether to be concerned by that or otherwise. I'd hoped for a bit better, maybe its naive to think in the modern era that otherwise limited players would raise their effort level 10% with a world-class manager on the sideline watching them.

Our issues relate not just to a lack of quality, but a fundamental issue with poor individual and collective attitude and commitment levels.

Even more fundamental is throwing good money after bad. I'd be far more confident if Ancelotti is going to pull the strings with transfers in the coming weeks, but we don't know that. Ultimately we will see the evidence in the games.

He took over at a time when we where in a mess with a combo of poor form and poor players. We haven't really moved on from there but Ancelotti has not been able to go into the transfer market. Positives with Gordon, Branthwaite and Holgate and to a certain extent DCL has been the sum of all parts this season. Ancelotti is now finished with his assessment of the staff and will now know what he needs. In a way the poor after lockdown form and results will have hastened up his convictions so I count that as a blessing. He has a massive job on his hands but feel we can only improve if he can get just a few of his own targets in. Ancelotti is our magnet for better players coming here as the name of Everton alone will not entice better players. Ancelotti will come good IMO
