We were looking like relegation fodder under Silva.

Dunc got them fighting again and then Carlo arrived and has done the best he can with what he has to work with.

Anyone who’s seriously questioning him after half a season and no signings, either hasn’t been paying attention or thinks creating a top PL side is like a game of FIFA.

By way of comparison, Klopp finished 8th with them, and a vastly superior squad in his first season, and he had over 2 months more to work with them.

Ancelotti is one of the best managers in the game, but he needs time and resource, he’s not a miracle worker ffs.

So ,at this point ,which aspects are you most happy with?

Who was the last manager to dig out the players for their attitude? Who was the last manager to publically state he wants us challenging for titles?

And why what was your expectation of this group of players under Ancelotti, who hasn't had the opportunity to even begin building his squad?

Yes they are in the main a poor group of players, but worried that he couldn't get them to at least put the basic level of effort in.

What do you think he was saying to them in the changing room to get them to put the basic level of effort in?

What do you say to a group of gutless self loathing rubbish set of players who couldn’t even be bothered putting the effort in for 4 previous managers before him?

What’s he supposed to say? “If you don’t play well, you’re dropped” for who do we drop certain players for? Our squad is grade A rubbish and do you honestly believe some of these money grabbing rats would be arsed if they were dropped?

This is where we were on the 22nd December 2019 i.e one day after Carlo was appointed

Table 22nd December.webp

We finished the season on 49 points which is 30 points more and that includes the poor periods we have had. If we projected that to the first 18 games of the season then we would finish on somewhere around 60 points which on the final standings of this season would have finished us in 6th place and qualified for the Europa League.

And that is with working with a bunch of whoppers so imagine what he could with a team built in his own image.

The future will be brighter with this fella as long as he is given the tools he needs.

Silva 0.93 points per game
Ancelotti 1.5 points per game

That's an effective 61% increase in our points per game.

Am I happy with an average of one win and one loss for every 2 games? Definitely not.

Is a record like that a heck of a lot better than we had under Silva? 100%.

Carlo needs a couple of new players who are starters. He needs to get his own players in.

What do you think he said or didn't say? Carrot or stick, players generally react to one or the other, yet we got game after game of indifference. Let's face facts we'll start the season with a lot of the same team still here,if he couldn't put a rocket under them now,it doesn't bode well.

He’s dragged a decent amount of points from an imbalanced, untalented and unmotivated team.

After the game yesterday he talked about coming back after the break with more motivation and ambition “for the players who are staying”, so suspect he’s made his decisions on who needs to go.

3 or 4 big improvements to the starting 11 would transform this team.

People underestimate the impact of a number of the players who know the jig is up under him.

I'd agree with that. The ironic thing is that we can't rid ourselves of them to such a degree such that we know that some / a lot of them will start next season still with us anyway.

I wonder if we can expect more from a player like Sigurdsson, for example, if he starts next season with us. Players that survived the cull either by accident or design. Should we expect a better attitude and improved tactical and technical play from him over the course of the season then?

We are ony going to be able to rebuild in phases. Perhaps next season is a clean slate for everyone still at the club but for sure we cannot tolerate this early holiday mentality starting the new season.

It's been awful under Carlo, some of the games under him have been abysmal..the fa cup game, spurs and wolves away, Norwich away was just as bad
The last 3 home games

However, apart from picking the same players a couple of times when maybe he should have given others a go this, the blame is all with the players, they are rancid bunch and do there best to get every manager sacked because they are cowardly scumbags

Carlo shouldn't be judged until he has had a few windows to get his own team together, but no one past or present could do much with this squad he has inherited, just a bunch of losers

It's been his conviction recently that 'we WILL improve' that does give me some hope. You deffo get the sense that he knows what needs to be done and he's been vocal about adding more quality, passion, and above all motivation to the squad, so the message to the board should be loud and clear there. I expect next week is when we'll start finding out a bit more about his plan this summer.

The only game I would complain about was the Chelsea annihilation, I honestly had no clue what the game plan was at all, I'm very happy with him and I think he's done his best with this absolute awful midfield.

No is the answer to that question.
