Went for a 3 in the end. The squad is basically the same as when the window opened, only we now have less depth at full back.

The poor underperforming squad players weren't moved on, the squad was not overhauled and we didn't get our no.1 priority position. It was as poor as it could have been and the manager has been given no chance.

There are people at the club that played a part in the situation we are in. And what’s worse they will be trusted again by the majority of fans in supposedly moving the club forward. A new stadium isn’t going to eradicate every problem clearly there.

Benitez will get some good results, that Rondon will score a few at some point, maybe a decent cup run , anything far beyond that is a godsend.

I understand but don't buy into the fume. I can appreciate that we'd all expected to see the club bring in more than one player today, a RB and we were all hopeful of Diaz coming but none of that has happened. The expectations of the fans wasn't reached but realistically the fans expectations of most clubs isn't fulfilled on deadline day.

First of all, we've seen Bernard, Walcott, Bolasie, Besic and Pennington all cleared off the books which is an important step forward for the club.

The club has essentially spent 1.7m on transfer fees and signed proven, safe players who will buy into the club and our manager. If all Everton fans knew we were going to lower our wages and only spend 1.7m, I don't think anyone could provide a better way to spend such minimal money but improve the squad. I can appreciate why fingers get pointed at Brands and I think he's failed on not being able to sign a RB but based on the money we spent I believe he and Rafael have done really well.

I just think the bigger money signings, especially Diaz just weren't going to happen unless we'd made more money through the sale of players.

Pretty much this. Only bright spots are holding on to Richy and what looks to be a possible steal in Gray.

No excuse not to sign a right back.

Brands job is to forsee that . He should of know that Kean could leave and have a list of players for the much needed right back role and act according to the money received .
Brands has done nothing this window. Townsend and Rondon were players I'm sure Rafael wanted so if he picked the players he wanted what is Brand's job ?
He did have a list though.
We worked through Aaron’s, Dumphpries, Celick, Patterson and Maitland Niles.

The reality is that the money only arrived after the deal was done with Juve. That was yesterday. He had 24 hours to sort something, that’s all.

He correctly foresaw no pot to piss in and spent accordingly.

As for what he has done, most of that will not be publicised as the club won’t give a running commentary on player recruitment matters. From what we know, a small part of it probably looked like this:

Nunez negotiation.
Manager search and appointment.
Bernard transfer
Kean negotiations with PSG
Aarons negotiations
Dumphries negotiations
Celick negotiations
Townsend negotiations and signing
Gray negotiations and signing
Baningame transfe
Gibson loan discussions
Bergovic signing
Virginia loan / transfer discussions
Hoppe discussions
Longstaff discussions
Broadhead loan discussions with Sunderland
Gibson loan discussions with
Richarlison negotiations with PSG
Diaz negotiations with Porto
Patterson negotiations
Jebbison negotiations
Kean negotiations and transfer to Juve
Maitland Niles negotiation
Rondon negotiations and signing

By not selling players today, we've pretty much guaranteed several players go for free next year as well. Kenny, James, Tosun, Delph all come to mind and there might well be others I've forgotten.

Of course it will be good to get them off the payroll, but at some stage we need to bring in some fees. Its an indictment on everyone involved in our recruitment.
