It’s been a harrowing summer, which started with Ancelotti leaving. This resulted in the clubs transfer plans been torn up and a period of dreadful division whilst the new manager was appointed.
This was followed by an incident with a nameless player causing the club to be shellshocked for a number of weeks.
We went into the transfer window hoping to get a quick sale of my eyes are keen to PSG and to generate a transfer budget. But this never happened. Instead or PSG wanted was a loan. This set the tone for the summer really. Various talks with teams about players right backs et cetera but in action because we didn’t have a budget.
When Bernard finally left, his fee was immediately put to use signing Townsend and Gray.
Next came the news that PSG were targeting Richarlison should but they go to Madrid. We were also aware that city were looking to sign Harry Kane and that Tottenham could come looking for Dominic Calvert Lewin as a replacement. Hard eventualities to plan for. Talks started with Porto for Diaz.
So things dragged on until yesterday when Kean was finally sold and we had a little bit of money to play with.Out of the whole summer, we’ve had about 24 hours to sort the signings out. You can’t plan for that, it’s just the way it is.

A bit disappointing really.
shrewd squad signings made admittedly but not totally convinced we are any stronger due to key positions not covered.
RB needs to work miracles as soon as we get some injuries.

SHELLSHOCKED for a couple of weeks, absolutely no way we could’ve done transfer business after that incident

Disgusted
at we have done in the window, the club knew that certain positions had to be filled and we end up getting another over rated forward, are we turning into Newcastle of 5years ago. This looks to me like a signing to appease the fans. We all know that we needed better than this , but yet again we sign mediocre.
COME ON E FC we are better than this

0 for me. Now don’t get me wrong Gray has performed better than I expected and Townsend has been ok too. But, we haven’t addressed any of the priorities and look very light if we get some injuries. Can’t blame Benitez as it looks like we didn’t even have a budget.

I think you've got it wrong there. Ancelotti left because there was no money to sign players.

Brands job is to forsee that . He should of know that Kean could leave and have a list of players for the much needed right back role and act according to the money received .
Brands has done nothing this window. Townsend and Rondon were players I'm sure Rafael wanted so if he picked the players he wanted what is Brand's job ?

I'll give a +1 for Gray, which brings the score up to 1.

Everybody will hate Townsend by Christmas, but Rondon will probably be OK as long as he doesn't have to play too much.
Disagree about Townsend, he will put a shift in which will be acknowledged by fans, similar to what Kilbane had here.
