We haven't even got going yet. Breezing through that group stage without getting out of 2nd gear. We might not be playing good football right now but if we can start building a bit of moment in the league, keeping players fit and building some confidence, we will enter that knockout phase on the top of our game.

Its very much game on.

If If If but but but etc etc etc

Could say that about any cup competition. Dont really get the point of fans saying we have no chance cos some other clubs in the draw might be better than us.

You could mate, EVERY club's supporters can say the same as well.

I think you beat Young Boys by a few goals home and away. Then it will be interesting to see who Everton draw.

I personally want Liverpool, Everton and Spurs to go as far as possible - it all benefits United at the end of the day.

For all the bluster, United will do well to match Everton's points tally of last season. This is a very good Everton team and we are a lot stronger than the likes of Ajax.
Why does it have to be related to United? United were being managed by a man who didn't have any idea how to manage a top top club, all the players were at their lowest confidence level, and we know our life is all about confidence, once confidence goes, the whole performance goes outta the window. Moreover, Everton didn't have double commitment in that season, their defense was younger, it was Barkley's first breakthrough season, so oppositions didn't know a great deal about him. This season these things are against Everton. It's not gonna be anywhere near as easy last season.

Honestly, I may sound critical about the Everton team, but I really wish them all the best. I like the resilience and the patience of their fans, and I do think they deserve some trophies at least for their fans. But I just can't see them being the champions of Europa League-

Roma are a top team. Ajax have got lots of talented young players but lack balance. They sold one of their best players Daley Blind and frankly he wouldn't be good enough to get into our reserve CM side. (we also have 3 left backs better than him). So not sure they are that strong.

Playing the way we are, it would be a fluke. As much of a Fluke it is for Manchester United to currently be third in the league with one of the poorest defences I've ever seen.

If we start playing well though, like we did last season we can win it. This is a team that dismantled the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United last season, so it has something about it. The question remains, can we get our players fit and can Martinez reproduce that form.

Really? Is Gareth Barry really better a passer than Daley? He would walk straight to your team or any Premier League team for that matter. He could easily be a great partner for young James Mccarthy or Nemanja Matic at Chelsea. He's not explosive, but his technique and passing is top class. I'm not saying it because he is a United player, but I've seen him play against Barcelona. Even against the pass masters of Barcelona he was brilliant in that night and he was the key as Ajax beat Barca 2-1.

It doesn’t but I think it begins to show just how good a team Everton had last season. I don’t think we’ll win the Europa league either if I’m honest. We have a chance though. If we get our strongest 11 out and playing to their best we are a match for anyone. I'm not convince dthat will happen though.

Gareth Barry is a very good defensive midfield player. I never rated him much, but watching Gerrard play the role and watching Barry play the role for Everton convinced me of that.

Blind would be nowhere near Everton’s first 11. He also wouldn’t be on our bench. Barkley, Besic, McCarthy and Barry are all streets ahead of him. He’s a tidy player but lets not kid ourselves that he’d be anywhere near our first team squad.

I just noticed that you said Everton is better than Ajax. I'd love to see how Everton deal with Ajax, I personally think Ajax can pass most English teams off the park(Perhaps except Man City and Chelsea). Technically they are a superb side, it was down to the quality of Barca and PSG they were out of the group stages in the UCL.

Everton play a very technical passing game under Martinez.

There is little doubt they have a number of very talented young players. However I think we have a more mature team and physically stronger, as well as the ability to hit on the break.

Bear in mind we won at Wolfsburg who are 2nd in the Bundesliga and significantly better than everyone barring about 2 teams in our league. I would fancy our chances against Ajax.

First of all, in direct competition for positions, Blind will only face Gareth Barry. Barkley, Besic aren't defesive midfielders. As for Mccarthy, I think it would be a great central midfield duo with his physicality added to Daley's technique.

Anyway, it's not worth arguing with you. You have seen him play against your lot and how he controlled the midfield virtually alone(he was partnered by Di Maria and Valencia, who aren't really CMs) until 70th minutes. It was still the beginning of our season, and we had the tendency of tiring after around 70th minute, otherwise there would have been no way back for Everton in that match.

Anyway, let's agree to disagree.

I didn't see him control the midfield at all. My memory of that game was how comfortable we were by in large and we gifted you a couple of goals. De Gea then performed miracles to keep us out.

He's a tidy player. I think Barry offers better protection of the back 4 and is very underated. Besic is a defensive midfield player and has more to his game than Blind.

He has been an excellent signing for your lot though. He gave you stability when you needed it and is a great foil for Fellaini. Having said that, you have continued winning in his absence, which I think says a lot. In a top team I am not sure he does enough. In a struggling side he will help keep them ticking over.

We kept winning in his absence because of Carrick. Once he gets back, I'm sure our defense will be stronger because with Carrick and Blind they will have better protection. Yeah, for years, English people has been saying that about Barry and they kept on playing him in the national team instead of Carrick, with zero output.

Daley Blind is like a Michael Carrick, their game is more about anticipation and very little about physicality, hence their game isn't obvious. The only lacking Blind has in his game is his long range outlook. He doesn't look up enough like Carrick does, but he can still improve and has time on his side. Once he starts looking for long passes, I think we can see more passes like this one from him:

The defensive troubles we have had are not down him, rather down to him playing alone in the central midfield(All around him were attacking midfielders who provide little to no defensive assistance to him). Every time I see Besic, I see him a red card waiting to happen, whereas Blind always an accurate long range shot in his armor(like that top class finish against WBA). Honestly, there's no need for argument, time will prove who is wrong and right.

I like Carrick too and I like Blind. They are neat and tidy players. But Barry has been underated, England should have had him at the world cup. He is the best English defensive midfielder and was central to Everton getting over 70 points last season.

Over time I think Besic will have more to his game than Blind. He is a better athlete, better at dribbling and better at tackling. I am not here to slate Blind, just to say he wouldn't get into our match day squad. If he fits United's system then that's great. His finish against West Brom was ok, but as much down to poor goalkeeping and positioning as it was the finish itself.
