Howard

I've watched him from the stands plenty of times, albeit not with Everton. I agree he's not the most orthodox, but I don't see the copious amount of errors from him you seem to. Care to answer the question though. I'm just curious. Would you be as distraught as you are had he saved the first goal but given up the great save he made?

TBH, I'm not that upset with Howard for either of the goals last night as I blame Jagielka for poor defending more than anything. Howards overall play has bothered me for a long time. Things like flapping at crosses, Coming off his line like a slug and not organising and talking to his defence(like when Kuyt was allowed to get goal side of him from a corner) and the confusion and panic this spreads is why I don't rate him.

Most keepers these days are good shot stoppers but also make mistakes, even the top, top keepers make them. It's the rest of the stuff that gets on my nerves as that costs 8-10 points over a season.

Question for everyone. If Howard gets beat on the ridiculous save he made and then saves the first one he actually conceded and the game still ends 2-2, are people still this mad? He saved one he shouldn't have and gave one he shouldn't have. Sometimes you have to take the good with the bad. I suspect he'll be back to top form very soon.

I don't get this line of thinking. There's no point in him making unbelievable saves if he doesn't make the routine ones.

Errr yes there is....those saves mean less goals against. Next time he makes a howler I'll be sure to tell him not to even try at the tough ones because there's really no point.

If he couldn't make either of those types of saves, he wouldn't be playing.

Point is, he adds no value over an average keeper if this is the line of thinking. He's no different than some stiff that makes all the routine saves. Goalkeeping isn't a zero sum game.

Americans coming on GOT and pointlessly defending american players is becoming standard. Hibbert is a scouser, but if he had a poor game I'd say so. Why do americans feel like they have to defend them? Just call a spade a spade.

I did say he had a poor game if you read my first post in the thread. Also said he's been poor to start the season. Just saying some were also over-reacting.

i think he also needs to be told to stay on his ****ing line more often when a striker has a chance of a 1 on 1 not from an angle. im sorry but ba's 1st goal was not even a decent finish, he sidefooted it fairly slowly and it still beat howard for pace. if howard just stays on his line ba has to either get closer to goal which may have allowed jags to get a block in, or he has to find a wonderfully accurate and powerful strike into the top corner.
i think i made a mistake by picking him ahead of reina in my merseyside XI and that is saying something.

TX Bill laughed at me when i said all 4, if not definitely 3 of spurs' keepers were better than him, anyone else agree?

as well as this, you have hart, szchesney, cech, lindegaard, krul, vorm, guzan, given?, reina, al habsi, mignolet, courtois, westwood maybe all better than him. as well as others like de gea, schwarzer and jaaskelainen who are on par with him. one more mistake and mucha has to be given a chance, we'll never get players to reach their potential more often than not if their place isn't under challenge. given has been a top top premier league keeper over the years but after his gaff against us he was dropped and guzan has come in and done great in the 2 games and they've picked up 4 points. he's to be under no pressure
