Clearly they don’t mate and that’s understandable, the club must always look at the best income for the club, I get that. I may be wrong, just personally don’t see it being a big appeal to young scouse lads, especially the training gear and what not. I suppose there’s a bigger picture to just appealing local lads over brands though.

Fair enough and I do remember, with horror, my school days (my ma is a bit of a do gooder. We weren't allowed trainers in my house). The resultant bullying may have influenced my outlook on matters.

If the club went with a ‘fashionable brand’ - say Under Armour or Adidas, they’d make more money because kids would buy the stuff. Loads of lads in there early 20’s/30’s wear under armour in Liverpool, I’d assume they’d buy Everton Under Armour stuff. Tourists on a day out would be more inclined to buy our stuff if it was made by a recognised brand. The bigger brands have their own shops, bigger manufacturing departments and have gear available world wide making it easier to buy Everton stuff outside of the city.

If only there was some way that anybody, wherever they are in the world, could get hold of Everton gear without having to come to the city... I mean, in a dream world it could be done by computers and delivered to their door.

I’m not the person to comment on what is cool street fashion, bearing in mind I’m a middle-aged guy working in IT, but I’d really like to see Adidas do our kit. Mainly because they just produce smart kits.
And probably no one is getting teased about wearing an Adidas shirt (although I’m sure Everton could find a way to make sure someone was)

Unless if we manage to assemble a competent group of football players in the next few years then what the kit looks like, how much we get for the deal and in general who the supplier is doesn't really matter.

Obviously Hummel aren't that big in the UK apart from Rangers and a handful of lower league clubs. We had Nike but fell out with them over badge gate, seems like we've fallen out with Umbro over the long delay in getting the kits out last summer.

Proper easy isn’t it, must be why you see so many people in Everton stuff no matter where you are in the world.

I mean it’s not like our fans in the states have ever complained about not being able to buy stuff over there or anything...

it could be that having not won anything or threatened to in a quarter of a century, and not having any players who drive replica shirt sales (a Zlatan, for example) we aren't that relevant to the discerning international glory hunter.

If our colonial cousins are having difficulty in obtaining their official merch they may wish to try here.

"Well good news Mr. Moshiri, we've negotiated a deal with Hummel that improves the income to the club by a quarter of a million each year over the last manufacturer"

"I'm boycotting it. No self respecting parent would ever dress their kids in Hummel."
I think the argument is more that if nobody actually buys the stuff then you don't make any more money at all.

If we are going to go for a proper jarg make, I’d rather go for some Chinese brand to grow our brand over there.

Hummel?! Can you even buy any of their range in top retail outlets anymore? I know it’s all about revenue and stuff but can you imagine any top club using that brand in this day and age? Shocking if that’s the best we can get.

Just guessing here, but maybe they see partnership with Everton as a way of making their brand more visible. So they pay us more to have the privelege.

People going on like Everton are looking for the cheapest brand to make a bit of extra money, when in all likelihood its the other way round.

As for people complaining about Nike, we had Nike, their "gear" was terrible generic stuff and paid us less than Umbro. They have also signed the biggest ever commercial deal with that lot. Id rather not be associated with them.

But who makes the Man City and Chelsea stuff now that they are successful? They both binned Umbro off just as they started to achieve on the field. Why’s that? Because they make more money being associated with Nike & Puma

If the club gets a fashionable kit manufacturer, we sell more kits & merchandise... which makes more money, gets around FFP and can then be reinvested in the team, increasing the likelihood that we could be successful.

Liverpool’s one of the most fashion conscious cities in the world, no ones going to be buying Hummel trackies here anytime soon.

We are not achieving on the field just yet though... City and Chelsea had turned into top end brands that Nike and Adidas would want on their books and make bespoke kits for.

Hummel is not known as a bad brand, its just barely known at all. I reckon they could pull off a nice line of classy looking kit that people would actually buy. I agree people wont just buy it for the sakes of it but if its good quality (which they are) and looks nice it will be OK.

Time will tell anyway.

My mar got me a pair of Airwave Airwear or something like that 2 Christmases ago.

I banned her from buying me trabs anymore.

My daughter got me some Zx750s this year, so im gucci.

And no, I never wore them Aircrappers, took them the tip!

Football clothing is a fairly inelastic market. If Abdiduz or Noke made it 90% of the sales would still come rolling in. Because we're morons. I would imagine (not having any data to hand) that success on the pitch is what drives sales (on a global level) rather than its aesthetic qualities.

Look at it this way, when I moved to Cumbria for work you never saw a Chelsea or a Manchester City shirt. Can't flipping move for them now (Liverpool and United were always ubiquitous).

Probably get mocked more for wearing an Everton shirt.

I have always wanted an Adidas Everton kit too just because I like Adidas stuff usually (they do some shocking stuff too though)

I am 100% behind this Hummel thing though (not that there is any evidence its happening) as our kits will be classy as anything.
