Improving Everton's Profile

Odds are the Australians who idolised Cahill would of already known he plays for Everton and cause a increase in demand, Same goes for Howard and Donovan in the US.
This is also wrong. Millions of Americans who never heard of Everton will cheer for Howard at the world cup this summer. For a high percentage of them it will be their first time watching an Everton footballer. We're not talking thousands here, we're talking millions, the potential market is huge.

Whats that phrase that dominated the US election? Joe Main Street or something?

Marketing Everton as the Joe Main Street club, the working mans club, the authentic club, that sort of thing. Together with the history stuff, that must be an angle over there, surely.

Getting excited and annoyed now.

Yea, there's tons of phrases like that. The expression for working class is 'blue collar', again it doesn't take a marketing genius to come up with something. Appealing to down to earth, honest, Americans will work. Columbus Crew's crest is three construction workers. Stuff like "We are Everton, we don't take Hand outs, we do it the right way". Sounds crass in the UK but it would work here. If bill is intent on holding on to the club and not opting for the billion dollar sale, then he needs to work the angle that we are doing it the honorable way. It's a no brainer for the American market. Redeveloping Goodison as a modern yet historical venue will also give Everton something different on the international stage.

Tottenham are just about as successful as us on the pitch - but FAR better marketed outside of the UK.

the spurs point is a good point, i'm not exactly sure how they generate so much income. I would argue it's location may play a part in that but that would probably be incorrect as QPR and other teams don't have anything like the support. Then there is their large Jewish following however i doubt that accounts for a lot of it either. I can't really find many detailed statistics about their income but on forbes it sais
Commercial
$125 M
Brand
$67 M
but what are they doing that we aren't?

Yes - and it goes perfectly with Martinez's dedication to bringing the youth through and playing beautiful football. We play the right way, with local kids, and without the oil money. We're Everton - not Oil FC.

Turn Goodison into the Wrigley or Fenway of England. Make it a cathedral to football - a place like no other.

Americans lap that kind of stuff up (we really, seriously do, we have a fetish with 'pulling ourselves up by our bootstraps' and underdogs and doing things our way). Everton are honestly made to be massive in the US. With a bit of vision...

Their tickets cost more. I know that.

But look in the media - the top 6 in most places are: Liverpool, United, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, and Spurs.

It's totally insane. But it is that way - we need to be added to that discussion if we ever want to legitimately break the glass ceiling long term.

We are on to something here arnt we? Football in the UK is, despite what you might think, still the working mans sport. Deffo blue collar in its roots. Make us almost the antithesis to the sky clubs over there. And as you, or someone else said, it shouldnt be difficult to pitch us against Russian or Arab owned clubs over there either!

We play it on the carpet
We play it in the air
Whichever way we play it
We play it fair and square
Everton, Everton...
