i thought that was a given. the school system teaches these biases not just the s*n. youre spreading the discussion too thin by name dropping irrelevant historical characters. what point are you trying to make by bringing up israelies today?

If it was "a given" ie you knew - why your original question??

"school system bias" - same solution, get off your arse, research and make your own mind up ffs!!

"irrelevant names" - who to? you!! that's the whole point, ignorance of background is fertile ground for the nob and you end up with Suarez and John Terry giving arse backwards defence squirming like rattlesnakes desperately searching for technicalities when brought to book - very brave.

"Israelis" - you brought up the Jews and the Holocaust it's disgusting you don't know the relationship between WW2 and the state of Israel.

Get down the library before getting into a debate on abuse of people, the causes and after effects.

Honestly fella I'm biting my tongue here at your lack of basic history.

The nickname Dixie was because of his darker hair and colour, and it had racist connotations if I'm right? Dean certainly didn't like to be called Dixie.

Yeah, I've read that a few times. I was just interested in the assertion he was "black" or "'mixed race'" since there's not a lot of literature on the subject.

the only history i touched on was all races have been enslaved at one point or another and a common mistake made by people who think that no jews fought the nazis in ww2. cool down lad, you seem to have gone out of your way to misunderstand my posts.

Fascinated you say "little known history", say to a scot "Duke of Cumberland" an Irishman "Oliver Cromwell" a welshman "Owain Glyndwr" and they'll know the relationship with England, say it to most english and they'll ask "what lager do they sell?".

As for the Jews - you do know they're still fighting...... or has that film not reached you yet?

The only agenda is beating ignorance - nothing wrong in that.
i missed the sarcasm in your post the 1st time. you obviously think you are an authority on history, you come across like a 1970s bully of a teacher. unclench your buttocks nige - your way too uptight.

Aye, and I call him Dixie too, as does every other Evertonian. Does that make us all racist? An interesting point, I have no idea where it's going, but a point none the less.

Me too. It's as if Carlisle did a programme and came up with no examples of racism at all or as though Suarez and Terry didn't happen. Even on this thread, someone has seemingly been banned for posting a link to a load of racist "humour."

The argument is there, all right. Let's not be kopites about this.

Where can one find any information about Dean's 'race' out of interest? Doesn't seem to be well documented.

Does there have to be documentation that he was mixed race for it to be so? His contemporaries saw it, he received abuse throughout his life for it (even his Times obituary in 1980 described his looks as 'Uncle Tom') and he looks in every photo clearly to be of mixed race. Somewhere in his family background there's a black origin.

So actually technically Everton weren't the last club to get a black player in and a 'racist club'.

We were the first.

Absolutely. In any case, Everton had Mike Trebilcock in the 1960s...a player mercilessly abused by the Kopite scum in the brief period he was here apparently. There was a Liverpool song about him, saw it a while back (or heard of it a while back).

Tbf we weren't particulally pleasent to John Barnes. But neither were they when he was at Watford.

A vital truth they purposely forget.
