We've definitely been worse, but at those times there were at least 3 other teams in the league who were even worse than we were.

I'm not currently seeing 3 worse teams than us in the league.

The great escapes in the 90's were marginally worse than this in my time. But this is easily the worst we've been since the start of the 05/06 season; when we were 17th in the league at christmas from memory. We recovered pretty well in the second half of that season though.

The Walter Smith era was bleak but it didn't leave me feeling like I do now. Back then we signed some crap but we also signed Richard Gough and Kevin Campbell amongst others. At least they gave everything and I thought both were excellent for the club, they inspired those around them and Gough was a true leader who knew how to defend and Campbell scored a fair few goals for us when we really needed them. We actually won some derbies too during this period and the team managed to cobble together enough performances for most fans not to feel as lost as they do now. We knew we had many poor players but it was a team of sorts.

Now is much worse, we have some good footballers but they are not showing it and have not for some time. Players just don't turn bad overnight, its a sign of something being rotten at the club, of what they are being taught or brought into and I think fans are more fearful now than at any time.

I don't see anyone in this current crop (other than Pickford) who can inspire anyone watching, let alone on the pitch. We have no leaders in outfield positions. Pickford is probably thinking right now what he has got himself into and I wouldn't blame the chap if he was aiming a move away in the upcoming transfer window.

Not a chance this is the worst, in the 90s we had a terrible squad - at times we played a right back up front (Steve Watson) and relied on Ginola and Gazza to save us along with a 400 year old Richard Gough. We never had a penny to spend.

I simply don't understand the lack of fight. It's as if the vast majority of the squad are either totally lacking in mental strength (which I find completely unfathomable in professional athletes) or simply aren't remotely arsed whether they win or lose.

The massive drop in form of players like Schneiderlin is maddening too. He has been a shadow of the player we signed last year.

Possibly...the thing I dont get is that despite everything, these players are supposed to be prem quality, but they actually show no quality, along with no passion and no I will give everything ive got for the cause....where is there pride, they get paid loads and should give everything they have got

I think it’s relative, the 90’s were obviously worse, but we never had the money or the expectation (no matter how misplaced that was)

You think this is bad? I've seen a lot lot worse. I remember when we couldn't string 3 passes together all game. Imagine that. When Joe Royle came in he got the team to just hoof it into oblivion at any sign of danger. In normal circumstances that would've been the height of embarrassment but the fans understood why it was necessary and bought into it, pretty soon they started to cheer it. That gave the team confidence because they could see the crowd was behind them and wasn't booing at every little mistake made. Slowly but surely we got better and better and better and ended up with the FA cup that season.
This is what's needed now. Cut the negativity and get behind Unsy. He needs time, there is no magic wand. He's finding out who's up for it and who's not and needs time on the training pitch to sort things out.
That was a good performance considering the situation, until the capitulation after the goal. That has to be sorted and will be if we back the manager and get behind the team. So come on, Everton aren't we? Hey, Everton aren't we? Is right lads. Come on!

'Passion' is meaningless. Ashley Williams showed passion when he got into that fight but it didn't win us a game. Screaming and yelling and pointing at the badge and getting into fights won't do jack. Give me a level-headed player over a player who can't keep his temper any day.

Most of the players don't care about Everton. There is no loyalty in football. Barkley doesn't care. Rooney didn't either. They're boyhood blues. What have they got to be proud of anyway, how can you be proud of a team doing badly?

I don't know if its the worst we have been ever , but selling lukaku ,not replacing him, but buying the 3 number 10s is the worst decision in our history.
we might as well have sold all of our keepers and played a sack of spuds in goal. its that devastating and nullifying of anything we need to do to not be dead men walking.
