I'd say so.

The issue we have is not being crap or worryingly in trouble but more so that we seem to have no way out of it. The lack of a striker despite constantly mentioned is largely the factor here. The fact we have no-one, not necessarily a misfiring one but genuinely no-one to do that role. We have no goal scorer and as a result we can't win games. When you can't win games rather than don't then it's a frightening situation.

At least under relegation battles and Smith we at least had a striker, someone to get behind and hope they won us the game. We have no-one right now, and even if we went out and signed one in January there is always the danger ala traore that they put themselves out for the season in a instant and we go back to what we have now.

Defensively we are finished as well. 3 of our back 4 is finished at the top level with no replacements at all. Our right back is currently league one standard at best or a young lad who's confidence is so shot now he is struggling. We have injury prone currently Keane who has struggled and that's it for defenders. Man city just went out and signed 2 full backs for each side to strengthen , Baines still has no understudy as the only one we had we sold again without a replacement .

I am just so scared of what is to come because we can't even shut a team out. Again under smith and walker we had a win on us here and there. We have now moved into losing streaks , 5 in a row and out of 2 competitions. Besides a elbow and a pumped up niasse our losing streak would go back far worse especially as we have only won twice all season and less than 10 goals split between only 2 players.

We need to learn how to not get beat before we even dream of winning games. All well and good but until we learn that then the games will slowly tick down until we really will be up against it

Smith used Steve Watson as a striker mate, things had got that bad under him too

Thing is mate, Watson scored up front

We have literally 2 players who can do that. One gets 10 minutes and the other drops to the half way line and runs as fast as a pensioner.

At least under smith we could score and win a game.

I remember in the Walker period the comedians were having a field day with us with the 'what's the difference between Everton and a compass? The compass has more points.'

And that was in November too, so least we are more than double better off than we were back then. What a time to be a blue.

This isn't as bad as the Mike Walker era and Jimmy Gabriel just before he got here

But - it's bad. Very bad. It's as bad as anything I've seen since that period and the worst thing is there's no way anyone realistically saw this coming, whereas back then we knew we were crap

Early 80s for me, but that could be an age thing, I was late teens so would travel everywhere and each time wonder why.

It was scary v Wimbledon & Coventry, but not the same 'bad' if you know what I mean?

My fear is, that when we've been in a battle before its been the supporters that have dragged us up, spurring on the likes of Kevin Campbell, but I'm scared the fight has lost a lot of us, we've become riddled with battle fatigue as time after time we've had hopes built up and then dashed. Not just on the pitch either, but throughout the boardroom, the whole DK shambles caused the biggest rift in the support since the banjo pluckers were spawned, it undermined us all as a club, we lost the unity. I've said many times, that will be Kenwright's legacy.

Now, I put part of it down to the opening fixtures, no chance of momentum building from such a fragile and risky squad, and there isn't anything the supporters can build hope on. No Kevin Campbell on the horizon. If the board balls up the next appointment it doesn't bear thinking about. But, the big 'but', is the board themselves need sorting. Kenwright has too much influence. Elstone is the ultimate disaster for our club such is his shambolic tenure, plus others that patronise with mediocrity, all just be cleared out. It's like a virus at the club, and if Moshiri has any savvy he'll clear out the club of all the deadwood. Don't and we'll be in this position and worse for many years.

This.

The battle fatigue is the killer.
Rising costs of attending, generations of no success and a managed decline of expectation has seen the acceptence of mediocrity. Now back staring at a full on crisis AGAIN and I just do not have the fight in me. Real life of raising a family and other commitments take over. The youth are the ones to raise the battle cry, but they have been fed top 10 is boss all their lives by the incompetent board.

This is potentially the worst it has ever been due to the generational malaise. The chickens are coming home to roost as we have seen so many star players sold off and lesser brought in to maintain the status quo. Only this time it's gone horribly wrong. You reap what you sow eventually.

Im in my mid 30's this is worse than anything i have ever seen. OAP defenders and baby striker or nothing. Pathetic. I was optimistic about this season lol. I am obviously thick

Honestly yes.

Smiths team had times where it couldn't score and Walker couldn't keep a clean sheet but this team has both those problems.

There does not seem to be any fight from anyone. We need a catalyst to get us going and that could take a while be it a new signing or the likes of Coleman, Barkley coming back to fitness.

it was certainly bad in the early 80s with crowds round the 12-15000 mark.Took us years to recover the missing fans, even during the league winning season of 84/5 I think the average gate was around 28000,just hope the same dosent happen again.just been looking at the record books, and in particular season 1950/1,the last time we were relegated...played 10 8points,going on 3 points for a win.hopefully we can turn this round in January with some new signings

Being around in the 90's will b hard 2 match, tho we still managed a trophy through that turmoil, the last few years tho has gradually depleted from about 60mins of football per game 2 about 5-10mins and that u still can miss by a quick visit 2 the urinals cos it's only ever in the space of 1 half, the other 45 we're like a group individuals with no connection.. Painful times!
