I know they would at him being a legend but think they'd agree he's been one of the best players they'd seen.

To recap I am saying no way is he anywhere near Everton legend status but certainly one of the greatest players we've had, albeit very briefly. 👍
But he isn't.

Based on what he produced whilst in a blue shirt he was no where near as good as the other players I listed.

Wearing an England or ( dare I say it ) red shirt he was a fantastic player.

I always think he talks more fondly of Man United which I just can't get my head round, regardless of what he achieved there.
Hes a manc. Thats why he talks more fondly about manu. He spent most of his career there, it makes sense. Not a word on little old Everton until he needed a new contract somewhere, then he was suddenly an Evertonian and so were his kids. Take off the rose tinted glasses, and its all pretty obvious :)

Definitely not an Everton legend - at least not in the sense of somebody who made a long-term impact.

His emergence is legendary. His career was spent elsewhere.

I'm not sure we've had too many worth that sobriquet this century. After Southall, it's been slim pickings. Nothing the likes of Cahill, Baines or Coleman did could ever really be said to be "legendary".

I'd stick with fellas who even the opposition would agree were legendary.

Hes a manc legend. Did nothing for Everton other can conning the club out of a fat salary when he was way passed it and kiss the manc badge after scoring against us. He can take his pandering ‘my kids sleep in everton pjs’ and shove it up his rear.

That’s pretty harsh. He didn’t give himself that contract, he was decent the second time around, and he was the only high earner then who was easy to move off the wage bill.

I think it very much depends on how you define a ‘Legend’ in the first place. For me, a club legend has to have been the best at something or to have done something remarkable. So Dixie was our best goalscorer, so obviously a legend, same with Big Nev, Harvey, Ball and Kendall were our betw club midfield, so all three get the legend tag. Wayne was great but want the best every Everton player, nor did he do anything remarkable for us (as opposed to say Kevin Campbell whose goals single handedly kept us up one season). By my reckoning Kev was more an Everton legend than Wayne was, because while he wasn't 100th as good as Wayne was, he did something remarkable for us.
