James McCarthy

Paid 70 euros to go to that game last night. Full of hope...but the usual atrocious Traps tactics killed that.

The up side is that he wont be boss much longer and players like McCarthy wont be wasted like this. Normally id comment on or judge our players individually like l would after an everton game but under Trappatoni its definitely the manager and systems fault.

Please dont take much from that mess last night. McCarthy is an excellent player and by end of season will be a fan favourite.

Gibbo will love him to get the sack.

No point in dressing it up, he was awful last night, but like someone said in this thread if you were to judge Seamus on last nights display you wouldn't be heaping praise on him either.

It really is horrible going to watch Ireland playing, has been for quite some time now, i'l never understand why they couldn't wait until after the euro's to decide whether or not Trap got a new deal, that was clearly his time to go, but once he had the new deal signed the money isn't there to sack him, they'll be lucky to get 10,000 for the Kazakhstan game.

Good enough for them.

Trapattoni's an idiot.

Exactly. He's a senile old pray that should have had the god grace to step down after the Euros. Though why the idiots at HQ have him the extension is anyone's guess.

McCarthy is class and will show it plenty of times for us don't worry.

I don't think watching him play for Ireland is the best way to judge him. However, from what i had seen at him at wigan he does have a tendency to pass sideways straight away - either to the full-back or his midfield partner. He's best when he plays like he did against us in the cup - breaking up play and then getting on the ball, getting his head up, and using his ability to put the ball into a dangerous area. If he just steps up his creativity a bit, he'll be a top player.

Excited to see him and Barkley together

Not a problem if it's done at speed to move the opposition about and create space eventually for a more penetrating ball by someone.

I think it's going to be a slow burner for people to see what he offers. The main beneficiary will be Barkley.

If he played poorly yesterday then people should be allowed to say so. There's no point pretending, or accusing people of getting on his back just because they are telling the truth.

I will give him time, but it will be time where I hope he develops his game beyond passing the ball backwards all the time.

Mate, not having a pop so no need to get all defensive. Read the post again.....I'm simply stating that some Blues have written him off before they've seen him in a blue shirt. I didn't notice any posts ripping Seamie a new hole after the Irish sides miserable showing.

Because we all know Seamus is utter quality. The same cannot be said for McCarthy as there are massive doubts that still exist.

Coleman is 25 this year and had only come on the last two seasons, James is two years younger with amount of experience. You really have started spouting rubbish since Moyes left.
