But Dos Santos was terrible in England, and Kone was not.

Also, McCarthy has been very good in the Prem.

Tbf mate, you are having a go at a manager for spending the money on slightly safe bets and not taking punts on South American bargains. Unless you compile a list of all of these players that would improve us tenfold for buttons, it's a bit daft.

That's a very elusive answer mate, nobody is saying McCarthy is better than every player from South America are they. The way your talking seems like you had players in mind that you think we could of got cheaper who are better but yet you can't name one.

I don't have scouts around the world mate whereas he should do and probably does.
You're trying to play the passing game with people who can't. For this to work, we will need 2 new CBs as jagielka and distin can't pass a ball to save there life. A person like Daniel Agger who can carry it out.
God knows why we didn't sell vellios, he will never play as lukaku/mirallas/deulofeu/jelavic/kone are all ahead of him. So that is like 10-15k of the wage bill.

Answer this, would you rather go to South america/spain and get a decent player who have technical ability or get Kone/McCarthy/Alcaraz (never seen alcaraz much but he wern't really a ball playing defender)

Medel is DMC, and we have Barry & Gibson. Both proved at the top level, and cost £1 million combined.

Tino Costa is a good shout, but is very much more of a risk.

Martinez knows McCarthy, McCarthy knows the Premier league, McCarthy is a full international. He's a versatile midfielder with lots of potential. He'll settle quickly in the squad as he already knows Coleman, Duffy and Gibson. We probably payed over the odds but not by much. I think He'll be worth alot more than 13 million in a couple of seasons.

How do you know they can't? They haven't taken to it like ducks to water, admittedly, but it's getting better.

Martinez has to atleast give these players a chance to adapt.

If they can, great. No need to spend. If they dont....then he goes and looks for players who can.

What role does McCarthy play? yes he knows the prem ect but lets be honest, he isn't very good from what I've seen about him.
I'm not saying he is crap because he bottled out of a 50/50 vs chelsea but in your Debut vs Chelsea, I highly doubt many people would bottle out
