James McCarthy

Utter crustacean. Even his complexion is crab-like. Not checked his birthdate but would hazard a guess he is a cancer. I bet he is one of those players who pinches other players at corners as well to try and get a reaction from them, he probably has pincers instead of hands. Will be let go if anyone offers anything upward of what we paid for him. Anyone saying he had a boss first season though needs to look at his career overall. He has had one very good season in seven. Not Everton class and we can do much better. Has been shown up by the arrival of Gueye who looks double the player for half the cost. There are others who we also need to let go but McCarthy is on a decent wage and we can actually get something for.

Lets keep this on James McCarthy please chaps.

Gents, let's not get into any off topic debates in this thread, thanks.

It does look like he's for the chop, which is a shame as he was superb for us when he first joined, but stagnated badly in the last 18 months. We have no shortage of midfielders fighting for a spot so if we get a good offer for him I suspect he'll go.

Whatcha gon do when they come for you
Bad mods bad mods
Dun dun dun

I hope he stays. Like most of the squad, he lost confidence in Martinez's
I've stated before that I'd be inclined to give McCarthy the opportunity to rekindle some of the form shown in the first season.

For as you rightly mention, he's not the only player to have dwindled under Martinez and his shoe-horning approaching within the last two years.

Yet, if Celtic's interest is genuine and they're willing to offer a fair amount for a permanent deal then Koeman may see it easier to offload him.

Talk of a loan deal however means he'll most probably be staying at least in the short to medium term.

I don't think there is any way Celtic could afford the total cost of signing McCarthy.
I think there will be a few Premiership clubs that would be interested in him as well and they will be able to offer a package that would blow Celtic out of the water.

Okay we are one injury ( Ghana / Barry ) from playing an injury prone Darren Gibson in central midfield, can you trust him ? There is no way on God's green earth that you can let McCarthy go out, without having a replacement in first. Especially on loan .

davies and cleverley are there too but i agree he wont go til we get a replacement.
anyway if anyone thinks mccarthy has more to offer and are blaming martinez for his performances hes equally as crap for ireland.

Celtic can't afford to pay Championship wages, even with the Champs league money, so he's not going there end of.

We'd have to pay a portion of his wages for him to go there on loan.

It's just not happening .

Obviously we'd sign someone else though so nothing to worry about

At the risk of being blasted, I would rather have Clev as a back up for Barry / Gana Gueye and then Davies. Clev can be asked to defend, and then his passing is better than Mcarthy

and then of course Mo if he ever comes back fit for 6 months. He needs a trip to Tony Stark
