He's been awful for a while now . I'm not into having a scapegoat but this lad needs to be sold . He offers nothing .

I can't believe how a player his age has regressed SO much in just over 2 years . His first season he was quality . I've given him the benefit of the doubt for 28 months but I've realised he's just not very good the past 10 months or so .

2 players holding in games like today does my nut in. There was absolutely no need for him to be sitting with Gueye today. None whatsoever. That needs to be Ross' position.

Whenever we secure Mata, or a Mata like number 10, I think we will indeed see Barkley played deeper.

I like Jimmy Mac, but this, he is not.

Not that I think Koeman has a 'type', but at the moment this side desperately needs a player who can control a game.

Jimmy Mac could barely control the ball at times today.

He just needs to do more. He's so safe with his play, and it's not helping anybody.

By Koeman type player I meant one who can run and run. He seems to want an imposing team and I do think McCarthy has that in him. However, I do think he will become dispensible once a genuine playmaker is signed and Davies gets a run.

How is doing nothing 'fine' ?

He didn't do nothing though. He helped us dominate the game, that's his job. He won't offer much going forward, he never has.

Played like a man who knew Barry would replace him next week. His first thought (90% of time) is turn back and then passs back or sideways. I know his role is defensive midfielder but for me a central midfielder should also be able to run and pass forwards for a good percentage of the time. Gana shows this. And Gana also wins back the ball. Even Barry looks to play forward passes (although running forward is getting more difficult for him). I just don't see what McCarthy is bringing to the team right now. Needs to up his game pronto or he's a goner.
