Confirmed Signing James Tarkowski

Are people basing this "very aggressive" assessment purely on his tackle on Richy?

Just had a look at his record at Burnley and he's never been sent off for them in 6 seasons.

I've seen Holgate put in some shocking tackles but I wouldn't call him aggressive.
We massively lack aggression at the back. Godfrey showed it in spells last season, but hasn’t looked the same player this year for whatever reason.

Aggression doesn’t always mean going into tackles full blooded, but making sure you’re first to everything, getting tight to your man, not giving them any breathing room, busting a gut to get back into position etc.

Assuming he is still keen (excuse the pun) to play football, get him in.

Maybe he is holding out for a club higher in the league - ie. on the bench - he was once highly thought of.

Haha come off it.

He's from Manchester. He wouldn't need to even move home.

He knows what Everton are all about.

I've known we've been interested in him for 2 weeks - he'll have known longer.

Still, he needs to go on holiday to mull it all over?

The club are putting out comment about how we're moving to sign only 'hungry' players who want to be here.

Doesn't correlate to me with a player on his last pay day who needs 4+ weeks to decide whether he fancies it.

All that said, he's a bit better than what we already have, he improves us - it's pragmatic, provided the signing on fees/wage etc aren't daft.
Lol. What's the urgency? What if he was already on holiday when the formal contract came through?

Maybe mate.

But I reckon if I search your username for Tosun, Bolasie and Martina you'd be raving about them transfers too.

Sometimes you have to call a spade, a spade.

James Tarkowski has put Everton on the back burner.

Just like Koeman did.
Not sure why you’ve got your back up mate, I’ve no idea what I said about those transfers.

Bloke is allowed a break, long time before the new season for him to get on board if he signs.

Or as someone rightfully put he could be another Distin.

My issue is either way there’s likely no sell on value from him same as the others so not the type of players we should be prioritising now.

He could prove to be more like the legend that was Distin.

Glass half empty, glass half full...
Does he have Pace like Distin? I dread saying this but he hasn't miss many games with injury. I will be honest and say all i really remember about him is that tackle on Richarlison so i think of him as a big lumbering oaf

I do agree he needs to be jumping at this chance and not going on holiday to think about it. There's also the point that this pre-season is truncated and we need to know where we stand with players in what is a clearly important position we need upgrades in.

Give Dumbo Tarkowski until Monday and then turn away to someone else.

The longer he stays on holiday the less time we pay him his 140k a week.

And blame the club for dragging their heels, we could have sorted this BEFORE he went on holiday, but instead we wanted to save money.

Understand where your coming from have had alot of players recently coming here seem to have had this attitude. Hopefully if he does come in he realises what a big opportunity this is.

Nobody is disputing the bloke can't have a holiday.

My point is the club's strategic review/comment has been around;

'Everton want to strengthen core & improve in possession. Aim moving forward predominantly to recruit young/hungry players with potential resale value'

On no planet is that James 'I'll get back to you on that offer after my holiday' Tarkowski.

Would any player see us as their absolute first choice..
If they do we could say that player lacks ambition

Where else is he going mate who matches James Tarkowski's ambition? lol Maybe Villa? If they pay him more...

We have to get back to signing players like Cahill, Jagielka etc etc.

Players who are excited/almost desperate to come here with a point to prove.

That's what we're meant to be doing.

Instead, we're going for a player here who is on his final pay day who has decided to backburner the offer.

We have to be pragmatic but this transfer has to be the exception now, otherwise we've learned nothing.

Moyes changed his mind on a few transfers when he felt they weren't 100% convinced and for good reason.

Sign players who are desperate to come here and prove their value.

Move away from Marco Silva calling Yerry Mina every day, begging him to come while he waits for Man Utd.

We've started it right with Patterson/Mykolenko, don't start going backwards now.
