I was sticking up for baines during the summer , I still think he's a quality footballer but he has to be replaced. He will need replacing next season at the very least so signing a back up doesn't make sense . Sign a decent LB and have baines as back up .

Other than that I am happy with the rest if fit - about 22-24 first team players with Onyekuru and Dowell, Beni and the wounded players to return.

Totally disagree.

A few good games for Holegate doesn't mean he is now a Prem league top quality CB.

Williams has picked up his game under Sam, but like Jags, is ageing and makes mistakes. Keane has been awful so far, really bad.

We still need a CB and to ship out some of the existing ones.

As for LB, Baines had been one of the weakest players in the team this season. Great player in his day, buy his legs are gone.

Batshuiyi has consistently shown he can’t lead the line in his own. He’s a great poacher but there’s a reason he isn’t starting games.

I think it makes though doesn't it mate. Way too many 'fringe' players in the squad at the moment. We're out of europe and we paid way over the odds for at least 2 (maybe 3) of our signings last summer. Recouping some funds for players nowhere near the match day squad is good business in my view.
Emphasis has changed a bit since we've got some points in the bag. If we'd still been in the bottom 5 we would've demanded at least 3 'major' signings (striker, centre back and left back in my opinion). As it is, I think we still need those but we might use the loan market for 1 or 2 of those positions.
With JJK and Holgate doing well at the moment we might just go for one defender (left sided) to then re-assess in the summer. Striker needed though for sure.
It'll be interesting to see our strategy in the January window. We might just keep our powder dry through until the summer now. However I'm expecting 3 or 4 departures (permanents or loaned out).
