because he'd go the same way as keane. Both were decided not good enough for united, then after a couple of good years at crap clubs who are set up to defend with a good base, media start thinking they'd be good enough for the top teams, when it seems fairly obvious to me they're not. He just doesn't have the personality, like keane, to succeed at the very top imo.
Evans was always a good player. Martinez overlooked both him and VVD in favor of Mori. Madness.

I think we would be better selling to buy as I read somewhere we had 31 first team players. Ship some of them out then I can see us adding to the squad but can't see us adding to the current 31 with 16 games left.
Outfield players, we have twenty that are over the age of twenty-one. Two of those are almost certainly off while three are currently injured.

Then you have the likes of Sandro, Martina and Klaassen who's futures are questionable at best before looking at issues in other areas.

I agree that we may have to offload some players, but I feel that simply throwing numbers of players around disguises the problems we have.

In the mainstay, I'd say there are more players in our squad who large swathes of fans would question rather those who they'd keep.

As we've seen with the summer signings often it takes time to bed in, so anyone we get now, should ultimately be expected to contribute more in 2018/19. Hopefully they can make us better now (not that hard if we sign a LB), but I look at signing like Stones which was met with yawns that January, but came good later.

...another point Allardyce made today was that the team/squad lacks pace. I prefer to describe it as lacking athleticism (pace, size, strength, running power and mobility). Players who make the pitch look small, players who ‘get us up the pitch’. I’m sure it’s why he’s rushed Bolasie back and might be an indication of the type he’s keen to get in.
it's probably why davies has been getting so many minutes. Swapping Davies for Seri makes sense.

We need to be careful regarding numbers though. Say we end up with 3 extra this month then we have Dowell and Onyekuru certain 1st teamers next season that is not going to leave a lot of room for signings in the summer. I think we have gotten ourselves in a real mess with some average players we are going to struggle to shift.

I don’t expect to see Onyekuru at any point in our first team next season. I’m hopeful of Dowell but that depends on the manager.

Onyekuru was a kid with potential who now is recovering from a bad injury. He should stay on loan. Although I agree now is a good time for a clearout.

Although I tend to agree with you, there are also good examples of players who made an impact straight away.

Arteta & Landon Donavan as two examples of that.

Let's hope who ever we buy, we get that same quick impact from, because we need it.

..Seri looks quality but he’s small and he wasn’t the athletic type I was thinking of.
Stop being so focussed on height. Balance and quickness are more important in that position.

He would allow us to defend deep and counter with out having to hoof. Think Kante (at least offensively) or Veratti. Its a squad game and we always still have MS.

I think as soon as he qualifies for his work permit he's in at least the U23 squad. Whether the injury scuppers that remains to be seen.
