Did Galloway actually ever play at leftback for us? Remember him getting time at rightback/cb but not sure if he was ever played in his natural position.

You're wrong on all counts mate, for one Galloway isn't a natural left back anyway, he is naturally a cb, and he never played a game for us at rb, all his minutes came playing left back under Martinez.

...day 12 of the January transfer window, and here’s a summary of rumours for this Friday morning;

- According to the BBC, both Everton and Southampton want Arsenal winger, Theo Walcott. Arsenal insist on a permanent deal for the player who’s current contract runs until 2019.

- The Daily Mail says Everton are bracing themselves for a bid from Crystal Palace for midfielder, James McCarthy, but Sam Allardyce is keen for him to stay.

- The Liverpool Echo report Everton are considering the recall of Brendan Galloway who is on loan at Sunderland and that the defender is keen for this to happen.

- The Echo and various other outlets also suggest the Toffee’s are edging close to the £4m transfer of Charlton centre back, Ezri Konsa. Charlton Manager, Karl Robinson, is convinced the 20 year old is destined for the Premier League.

- Teamtalk say Everton and Leeds are keen on Heart’s 16 year old midfield sensation, Harry Cochrane.

- The agent of Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro is again quoted as confirming Everton interest in his client but insists Juventus will not let the player leave.

- SkySports say Everton are still weighing up a move for £18m rated Lille defender, Adama Soumaoro.

- The London Evening Standard report Crystal Palace are targeting Everton Forward, Oumar Niasse.

Thanks Eggs for our daily update - very much appreciated , not that I know the players in detail but some of these rumours seem a bit more like it EG defenders ?

...no problem, Mikey.

It’s important to remember they are only ‘rumours’ but I think it is possible to read something into the defender links. Soumaoro appears to have been on our radar for a few months, I wonder if the Konsa deal might put that one on the back burner for now. Also, the Galloway one makes sense if we are not able to bring in a LB target this month.

Sure you're not thinking of Browning? Galloway is a hybrid type defender that seems to be suited to the center of defense, but he had a run at left back a couple years ago and did ok. He couldn't get a game on loan at West Brom or Sunderland though sooooo that speaks for itself.

You say that Ste but for some reason, and I’m probably wrong, I’m thinking he played on the right against West Ham when he made his debut?

Towards the end of the season - think we won 2-1. He got ripped by Downing for them to go 1 up and then Lukaku won it late. Osman scored our first.

Might've been Browning I was thinking of, yeah. I think both were in the team at one point under Martinez.

..he came through the youth ranks as a CB. He’s certainly left sided and had a reasonably impressive run for us at LB when Baines was injured.

Neil Dewsnip was his England manager. Dewsnip was a local schoolteacher before moving to Everton as a youth coach and I suspect it was him who gave us the heads-up to sign this lad.

I believe Konsa wills be loaned back to Charlton for the season if signs? Maybe Soumaoro will immediately come in with konsa filling Williams? Jags or Mori spot if one moves in summer?
