Wish people would stop suggesting target men just because we were linked with loads in the summer, even Giroud, world class player but not what we need

This team teams needs a quick powerful forward who will try to get in behind and drag defences around to allow Rooney, Sigurdsson etc the space to make stuff happen

I'd go for Welbeck tbh
Fat Sam disagrees.

The top sides get goals from everywhere, not always over reliant on the forwards. It's nice to have 2/3 strikers to call on in case of injury but look at Spurs and the Trickys across the park - getting goals from wingers (Son, Salah, Firmino).

The one thing they do have, mind, is that focal point - what we now miss without Lukaku.

What Koeman tried to do by replacing Lukaku in the aggregate with 3/4 players is a half decent idea but done incorrectly and you've seen how it works.

Funny thing is C, by the end of the season i wouldn't be shocked if we had maybe 4 players with 10+ each in the league (Rooney, Niasse, DCL and Siggy) and possibly another if we bring in a striker as first choice in January. Barkley if he stays will likely chip in with a few second half of the season as well.

Sandro and Klassen both look like busted flushes - but similarly - either of those could suddenly click over the second half of the season if the team settles and confidence grows etc.

we 100% have a lot of goals in this side from individual players - the key is finding a balance in the team that allows them to get in those positions to score.

Rooney contributing goals from playing that deeper role will entirely change the dynamic of this team as well - Sigurdsson since the Rooney position swap looks far more dangerous (and on form he would have scored 5-6 this season already - just lacked sharpness but has been getting chances even off form)

WHY would anybody consider buying Carroll with his injury record?

Plus he`s crap and gets sent off quite a lot too.

The footballing equivalent of Tyson Furey.

All the top sides have a minimum of 3 strikers, really?

Spurs have Kane and Llorente - who else is a natural striekr in that squad?
Liverpool are playing an attacking mid as first choice up top, besides that they have Sturridge (perma crock) Solanke (hardly played any games at this level) and Ings (perma injured)
United - Lukaku is the only player Mourinho trusts up front - and now Ibra obviously (Rashford and MArtial he polays as wingers not striekrs)
Chelsea - Moratta was injured and Conte played Hazzard up top rathewr than their second choice striker Batshuayi, besides for him they don't have any others
City have Aguerro and Jesus - who is their third striker option?
In fairness mate, City, Liverpool, Arsenal (despite them having at least 4 recognisable strikers) and to a lesser degree Chelsea, play a brand of inter changeable football that doesn't rely on a traditional striker. It's fair to say that we don't have the attacking midfielders to play that type of game.

It's also fair to say that the quality of striker available to both Spurs and United are on a different level to what we're relying at the moment.

Who would you go for as a matter of interest?. Surely you won't be happy relying on what we have (unless you're reluctant to let Allardyce loose in the transfer market of course).

Would take Sturridge on a loan deal mate, not even arsed about him playing for them, it's a world cup year, he'd not need time to adjust and he'd be fired up. Loan him with a pre agreed fee if he hits certain targets whilst here.

I'd love Vardy here, reckon he's still got a good bit left in the tank.

Plus he`s totally bonkers and we havent had one of them since Tommy Grav.

Allardyces sports pyschologist would have his work cut out, that`s for sure

He always wanted to be the main man, bizarrely he started slotting for us, then his rs past would be very quickly forgotten the same way it was with Beardsley and others.

What?. Like staying fit for 3 consecutive games?

The Liverpool doesn't bother me in the slightest either mate. Just the injury thing. Said the same about Welbeck. Both players would improve our squad provided they stayed fit.
