I don't doubt that at all. I am not sure I'd count either as marquee players though and I think Kendall said only Southall was world class. What Kendall did was build a team of excellent players who suited one another. Signing 11 galaticos shouldn't be the aim and rarely works.

We are close to this 2. We are probably a couple of players and 18 months off being a side that could feasibly challenge for the league in most seasons. The curveball is how far City are ahead, who will take some catching full stop.

Depends on the definition of world class, if it's maybe being the best in the world in that position, then yup Southall was the only one, but you'd kick in the in the likes of hazzard, mane, etc being called if with such criteria too.

My feeling is that world class suggests the performance level of that player in his position is close to being near the top for his position in the world, so for me, Ratcliffe, Steven, arguably stevens, too and bracewell would all be in there

Something i have noticed is that Barca in particular, seem to have a purposeful recruitment of Brazilians, i think it must be a huge market for them commercially or maybe something to do with the Nike tie in.
I think Barca know the value to be had in South America if and it’s big if you can get the players who can adapt to a foreign league and lifestyle
Players of the same quality are a lot more expensive in Europe

I’d take the definition of world class as a player you wouldn’t want to swap with someone else for that position.

A long read but a worthwhile one
May give us a clue as to a base that Brands will work his transfer strategy around and the South American connection

What I would give for Everton to sign somebody with that name.

WHAT A NAME

Not sure about that mate, in my mind Kendall was happy to move Lineker on tho Barca as he was sure he'd be getting that Barca job himself and wanted him there.
