''If he doesn't spend big, then I think that might be a sign he's been sold down the river a bit''

Or it could be that the players we want aren't available and we don't fancy throwing a load of money at average players who won't benefit the team maybe?

Surely he or walsh is identifying players though? Normal clubs in that situation would be negotiating now, especially if the summer window was a bit of a bust.

So you would know in advance if they were available for the right price or not.

Matt Le Tissier expects Ronald Koeman to spend big with Everton in January
The Sky Sports pundit believes the Blues boss may have been 'sold down the river' if the club don't spend

KOEMAN EXPECTS TO DO BUSINESS IN JANUARY

Matt Le Tissier has claimed that Ronald Koeman is going to find it tough with Everton - and that he expects the Blues to spend big in January.

The Sky Sports pundit spent his entire professional football career with Southampton, where Ronald Koeman left in the summer to take charge at Goodison Park .

Le Tissier admitted that he was surprised by the move at the time and believes that the Dutchman could have got a bigger move.

MERSEYSIDE TRANSFER WINDOW INS AND OUTS?

"I said at the time that I was surprised that he almost made a backwards step," Le Tissier told Sky Sports.

"I think it's going to be tougher for him at Everton than he thought. No disrespect to Everton but I thought he could have got a bigger move given the great work he did at Southampton .

"Having said that, I think it would be too early for him to regret moving. There's still plenty of time for the investment, assuming it is there. You can understand why he went, with there being more money for him to attract players.

The 48-year-old went on to say that he expects Everton to be big spenders in the January transfer window.

He said: "I'd expect them to invest in January and the summer as I think he wanted to assess his squad first.

"If he doesn't spend big then I think that might be a sign that he has been sold down the river a bit.

"It's been a decent start but he's come across plenty of bumps in the road."

Saints player striring before we play them. Meh

Maybe. But I do think the money is there to spend. It's just hard to get players in of a certain quality. Koeman should have realised this himself before he came, if, and it's only an if, he's going to think he's been sold down any rivers.

Agree that as a team we're probably not in a position at this moment in time to be an attractive proposition to the top quality players, still going to be fun trying though.

we must have the oldest squad in any top flight in europe, we need to be bring the age of the team down not up.

Ok ... please tell me which 25-27 year old playmaker who is good... that we can attract... or shall we just carry on as we are? Being unable to break down teams like burnley , Bournemouth, Swansea etc

If he could still do it at the top level, he wouldn't be in Turkey

We are not playing champions league mate... he's not replacing ozil... he would literally be the only player in our squad that can play number 10... Barkley is crap there and we don't create anything at the moment

The players we were linked with in the summer like Sissoko and elhamamamady were definitely throwing money at average players.

I just don't think he could handle the Premmier league now.

i make our starting XI average age to be 29.5, have put barkley down as 23 and baines 32 with the birthdays in a couple of weeks. i cant see any 11 being older than that.

I got the stats off an article mate - based from our average Starting XI up to the international break in October...

Teams don't want to sell their best players in Jan mate.

We'd be idiots if we werent speaking to Clubs and players reps about moving to Everton in January. After the shambles that was the Summer we need activity within the first week of Jan IMO.

Let's get Jonathan Tah and Julian Brandt from Bayer Leverkusen.

We're a bigger club than them and hopefully Moshiri flexes his financial muscle and we take their 2 best players off them this january, iirc Brandt has a low buy out clause,he is going to be some player and could turn out to be another Bale.
