The situation must be fluid. The club sees a performance like Sunday and might think - Do we really need a new midfield player as we thought? Can we wait for the new keeper? Maybe the priority has quickly changed.
yeah, based off one game that is ridiculous thinking. Kinda forgets even about the game before it where we needed the players, short sighted but then with the master of it still involved there is always the small chance...

Nothing to do with sentiment, just think hes decent enough to not try to flog off for anything we can get.
I see where you're coming from. He's a useful player, on his day, but nothing really more than that, and certainly way under the standard you'd expect for 25m pounds. After a massive injury like that, and describing him currently as a 'useful player on his day', I'd just get rid to be honest.

I think Koeman didn't want Belfodil as he has a flaky personality. Koeman needs players who will run through brick walls for him, and I think he'd rather have a player with slightly less skill but who gives 100%.

....I doubt they'd have made a bid if RK hadn't sanctioned it. Also, from what has been said Belfodil is very much a player who gives 100%.

He was ok, nothing near what you'd expect for 25m, and certain will only return half the player he was, which will be absolutely nowhere near the standard we need! Get rid when he's fit, no room for sentiment.

Yes ! Lets cut out all this fluffy stuff with wastes of squad numbers drawing huge wages for sitting around playing computer games and arseing about on radio and telly - as soon as you get a season ending injury we should simply book them straight into Dignitas - and move on.

He's still our second highest provider of goals, and has been injured for nearly two months.

But okay.

You can be the second highest provider of goals in a badly performing team AND still be considered not worth 20mil, not the best option to have picked and play badly.

These are not mutually exclusive Toff. You keep rolling out the stat to everybody who doesn't rate him.

It's not about not rating him. It's the idiotic excuses for not rating him.

I'm baffled why he gets so much grief yet Del gets away with been tosh for a year, for example...

He didn't set the price tag. Had he stayed fit I'm sure he'd have contributed more than he had - and we'd be saying it was money well spent.

Regardless, he's out now.

Transfer Standard striker Ishak Belfodil (25) to Everton has been cancelled. The negotiations between the three parties have finally been broken off. Good news for coach Aleksandar Jankovic, because his best player now continues until the end of the season in Liège. Standard runs have 12 million wrong.

Ishak Belfodil to Everton, the handling of the deal seemed only a formality. But yesterday the negotiations were finally discontinued. The two clubs last week however reached an agreement in principle on the transfer fee, but there were doubts within Everton. Other than technical director Steve Walsh would trainer Ronald Koeman is not as convinced of Belfodil. The Dutchman had negative signals about the character of the Algerian, who in his career has made a difficult trail. Walsh, however, pressed on. Already two months ago he made his interest known and had even been an exploratory conversation with some Belfodil Board members of the Toffees.

The English wanted to so a deal, but on their terms. That is to say by the appropriate intermediaries (brokers). Belfodil brokers could not appreciate the power game of the English and ran the negotiations thereby delayed. Eventually it turned out one of the reasons for the failure of the transfer. It was quiet in the past few days from Liverpool. It did not need more if necessary for Everton, that Sunday with 4-0 meat made from Manchester City. Finally, the transfer was completely blown off.

For the transfer of course the jumpoff Belfodil is a disappointment. After four months he had Standard developed by free player to target by a participant in the Premier League. His English dream can once again just in the refrigerator. He is Sunday against Club Brugge.

So Walsh wanted him, but Koeman didn't so deal off.

Interesting..

Good news.
