January Transfer Thread 2017

I'm not seeing the motivation needed on Evertons part to keep hold of players like Lukaku. I'm sure he is just waiting for one or two class plays to come in and help and Everton fail window after window. Wouldn't blame the lad for wanting out come summer. No ambition.

Couple of observations arising from browsing this thread:

1) Not spending a specified sum doesn't mean that said specified sum isn't available to spend. For instance, today I did not spend £400 booking a hotel in Miami for my holiday in March. I am however seeking a hotel for a couple days in Miami in March, and will do so if/when I can find one that meets my criteria. My having NOT booked it yet does not mean that I do not have money to fund such a booking.

2) There is a difference between HAVING to sell an asset to raise sufficient funds to buy a new asset, and selling assets that you no longer wish to own due to the fact that you have bought new assets in which render the existing asset less useful (or indeed superfluous) to you. It can be exceedingly difficult to accurately assess which of these two eventualities applies to a given situation if you don't have full knowledge of the cashflow and balance sheet.

A final point, and I am bemused that people need reminding of this: 99.9% of rich people don't get rich by being rubbish with money.... 100% of rich people who stay rich do so due to being good with money. 100% of rich people who become poor do so by being bad with money. The suggestion that we no longer need to sell unwanted players for cash, because we have a rich investor, is patent stupidity.

Serious question to all people who feel like this. Would you rather postpone the development of a new stadium and sign 100m worth every window? Or the opposite where we get a brand spanking new stadium and spend wisely but not a negative net?

I'd prefer the stadium.

I'm relatively happy. What's been annoying is all the posters who believed we had tons of money to spend, telling other posters to stop being negative and being pulled in hook, line and sinker by some itk's.

It doesn't really matter wether any of us believe we have money or not. It's accepting other peoples decision to agree or disagree with their point of view that should matter.

Anyway, I hope I'm proved wrong and we are loaded.
