and on the flip side buying one or two gems can get you competing for the title given the competitive nature of this league. Look at west ham with their one man team last season finishing 5th because they got payet. Leicester picking up a few gems in kante, mahrez and vardy and nobody bar arsenal could live with them.

...absolutely. It's why I say judge a manager by their record in the transfer market.

the bit in bold above mate. Kenwright told us once we were doing business early, we sold 2 strikers and arteta that summer and loaned in a couple of players who were being banded about the country just to fill the squad up. Just as one example that generally what the club says and what it actually means is two different things. So again, is it not just blindly believing in what the official club account of things are despite the experience? Even Kenwright himself in that blue union meeting denied any connection to Phillip Green and yet MPs the other week confirmed it, and that was a behind closed doors interview.

the reason why i mention kenwright when i say this is because he is still here, and still playing a prominent role in the club. A bit contradictory from me but believing what Moshiri says, sounds like he will have that role in the future to come as well. So when the fella who loaned the club out every year, didn't back managers, short term planning and the rest suddenly shows up again dealing with transfers? Then the club does not spend any money whatsoever? Is that a coincidence?

See and the other thing you mention, sit back and let it all unfold. I am. In fact more so than you, I don't expect millions to be spent any time soon or boss players to all be lining up to come here. I don't buy into everything i am told by the club anymore, i don't expect us to go from mid table to boss team any time soon, so all i am doing is sitting back. So right now, i support what we have, what we are, not hoping we become something better. I am not going to be dancing around singing any song of the future, i support the right now, and the team/manager right now.
"Not hoping we become something better " !!!!!!!!!
This is the whole bloody point !!!!....I give up.

Thing is mate, what difference does that make? I have zero input into the club other than being a supporter, so what happen will happen. I am personally just choosing to stop being so optimistic about it and just support us how we are. I will question things sure, because there are things to question.

And here is the thing, if i am wrong, bloody fantastic. If the club spend money, or we suddenly win things and be successful then brilliant. If none of that happens, then makes no odds because won't change my support for the club either way.

that is why you hire people (for example walsh) to spend all the time between windows to be sorting that out.

It is a theoretical approach yes, and there can be failures signed. But to be honest you could keep the purse closed and still sign failures (Niasse) so the chance of a good player not making it makes no odds how you approach it. Either way i would hope the recruitment of Walsh is for exactly this, to find the right players for the club and spend all his time scouting them before we put a bid in.

Cant believe they didnt approach me tbh...

There you go, @Raino85 @Moomin hope you get lives soon, far too angry, is there a virginity problem as your right hand is like Popeyes.....good night!

Not a massive fan of people picking complete randomness that have had no links with us whatsover! Have only just signed for a new club, all abit fantasy to me.
I play FM myself but i keep all the Cherno Samba signings for the laptop! Well apart from all the porn i watch obviously

Without picking holes in that pal, West Ham finished 7th last season (although the way there fans and some media outlets went on they finished top 4).
United finished 5th, Saints (who had our current manager) 6th

Everton: Howard, Hibbert, Yobo, Lescott, Baines, Pienaar (Stubbs 87), Osman, Carsley, Cahill (Gravesen 65), Arteta, McFadden (Anichebe 65).
Subs Not Used: Wessels, Jagielka, Yakubu, Nuno Valente.

Booked: Lescott, Yobo, Gravesen.

Goals: Cahill 14, Osman 50, Anichebe 85.
This makes me sad. Arteta, Pienaar, Baines, Cahill and Yakuku in one team. Not to mention a younger Jagielka, Lescott and Yobo. We're miles off that now.

Fantastic rhetoric

We had a quite brilliant team between 07 and 09. Only problem was that Man United and Chelsea where arguably as strong as any of the very top sides in Europe and so we did not quite manage to win that elusive trophy.

That UEFA cup loss to Fiorentina on pens still does my head in. We really should have won that competition, we where the strongest side in it.

People talking about selling big and buying small only need to look at Arteta, Pienaar, Baines, Jagielka, Lescott, Cahill and Coleman to name a few. The backbone of our team for at least the last decade between them, we basically sold the likes of Lescott (bought distin another cracking find), Rooney who went on to make a great career for himself and got us much needed cash, so if someone said to me we could sell Lukaku for £70m and bring in finds like those mentioned, couple with walsh finding mahrez, kante and such then im all for it.

I have always held the blind belief that had we won that shootout that night, we would have went all the way. None of the teams after that were as good as fiorentina, we had anti football rangers in the semi final and had beaten the finalists already in the group so a horrible slice of bad luck stopped us i think.
