The Ukraine international was wanted by Everton on deadline day
Everton failed in a last-ditch attempt to land Andriy Yarmolenko - because they left it too late.
The Toffees were unable to lure
Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle on deadline day, while Lamine Kone and Cuca Martino stayed put at Sunderland and Southampton respectively.
Dynamo Kiev have claimed that the Sissoko situation prompted Everton to make a move for Yarmolenko as they wanted to bring a playmaker to the club,
report the Liverpool Echo.
But Kiev have said while they were happy to accept Everton’s bid, the lack of time made it impossible to complete a deal.
“Everton submitted a bid for Yarmolenko one hour and 15 minutes prior to the deadline,” said Kiev president Ihor Surkis.

“I was satisfied with the transfer price but we did not have time to even draw up a contract.
“I was satisfied with the offer as long as Andriy was. Transfer bids cannot be submitted that late.”
Everton failed with a similar late attempt to sign Yarmolenko 12 months ago having had an earlier offer rejected by Kiev.

But Everton left their move for him too late in the day
Yarmolenko has reportedly been keen on a move to Goodison for some time, and in February when asked whether it was better to have a guaranteed place at Everton or be a substitute at Barcelona, he said: “It is better to play at Everton.
“Of course you can go to Barcelona, make a cool selfie with
(Lionel) Messi , put the images on Instagram and get a million likes and be pleased with yourself. But I’m not one of those.
“For me it is important to play matches.”
