Have to agree with others. I look at the squad and one of the main drawbacks is lack of goal scorers, aside from Rom. Striker, creative type and/or set piece specialist would help.

We should really consider moving for Sigurdsson again. Scores, good at set pieces and is creative. Could be our Eriksen.

Sadly, and IMO inexplicably, we don't seem to be interested in a new striker (I know we're in for forward players but not goalscorers per she) so I think you're right.

I think that's kind of down to the position we're in as a club though.

Please name me one PL club, outside of the top 6, that has two quality, reliable goalscorers?

I genuinely don't think there is any

Vardy and Musa, maybe. I take your point but if we have designs on being a CL side we need to start acting like one sooner or later.

Musa's scored two goals though I think - both against us last week!

I agree with the principle completely mate but unless you've got CL/a high chance of it then realistically two goalscorers (reliable ones) are hard to get in the middle of the season.

If we can get a player that compliments Rom and the way Koeman wants to play, who might get 5 goals and a few assists by season's end, but gives more space to Rom, then I reckon that'll be good.

Then we have to go out in the summer and get a goalscorer in (two if Rom leaves)

Remember saying to one of the Leicester lot on here that he actually isn't that good besides for his pace and he slated me for it lol

It is a really difficult task finding a useful second striker. The likes of the top 6, and us with Lukaku, play their main striker as much as possible. The second striker only gets a look in when he comes on when to mix the game up or if there's an injury, but even then managers are plugging the gap with wingers.

So there is the problem. You can't sign a top class forward to play a secondary role because he'll be unsettled. Conversely you are going to want one who is able to hold his own, get goals, create and be a genuine solid back up option.

This is why I do have my reservations about Berahino. Seems like he wouldn't be happy with a stint on the bench even for a bigger club.

Best use of forward options I've seen this season is Arsenal's. They have a winger who can play striker (Sanchez) an out and out striker (Giroud) and a good back up (Perez) who has linked well with Giroud. I wouldn't mind seeing us use the same approach - A good back up forward who can support and a winger who can play forward.

That's exactly why we should be trying to get one. If we want to become a top 6 team we need two strikers that can score regularly and\or some midfielders that can score more than a couple of goals a season. Having only two real goal threats in Lukaku and Ross isn't going to be enough if we want to get in the top 6.

We know Lukaku is going to leave at some point, probably this summer. Better to get a striker in now so he can hit the ground running if\when Lukaku goes.

We can buy better defenders, defensive midfielders but they'll only improve us so much. To challenge the top teams we need more players that can score and create chances.

Or play two forwards like leicester when they won the league, or like Fergie used to do.

A top side needs two real top class forwards.

Agreed. If Rom stays fit. If not, we're poned.

Playing two forwards today isn't sustainable. When another striker does play, he doesn't stay central. Wingers have essentially evolved into support strikers, as full backs are so diverse in their play now.

Wouldn't want us to spend loads on a support striker. Chelsea have hardly used anyone but Costa. Same with Spurs and Kane and when he was out it was Son not Janssen who came in. You have too many strikers you also have a problem. See United, who are forced to play their strikers as Wingers. They've starated playing one striker and things have stated to turn better for them.
