January Transfer Thread 2017

This.
We have backup strikers already. Is it worth adds in another in the january window?
You bet it"s worth it. Rom plays 90 mins if every match he'll either get injured or burn himself out. Look at the way he finished the season at Albion where he had been used sparingly, and compare that to the last 3 with us. We need to be able to give the lad a break now and then, whether that be 20 mins when we're comfortable, or resting him for the odd game. Plus we need option to play 2 up top. And if Rom does get an injury., forget top 6. In fact we'd struggle to hold onto 7th.

That isn't me being negative. If I was being negative I"d be harping on about a lack of playmaker that we've needed since Arteta left. And letting Del go without replacing him.

Still a couple of days to go and RK, Walsh and Mosh (not forgetting our fave SSN presenter) have all said we're bringing more players in so I haven't completely given up hope yet. But the lack of solid rumours and whispers is very worrying.

....whilst I appreciate everybody wants a back-up striker, new goalie, wizard winger etc, we have got ourselves in a comfortable position and playing ok. If the players on top of the shopping list are not available now, it might be sensible to keep our powder dry and get the players we truly want/need in the summer.
Finally a dust off sense. As the late great Freddie mercury said "I want it all and I want it now". And look what happened to him. He got aids. So did we but we've managed to get rid of ours on loan.

We may not sign anyone. We have Mirallas Valencia Lookman and Calvert Lewyn. Good strikers are hard to come by in the January transfer window. If you can get someone good in then fine, if not, better wait till what you want is available. At this stage the type of player we are likely to be looking at would be a back up only, and we already have plenty of them. It depends who is available.
I agree but doesnt change the fact that we still need that bit more quality up there. If we dont manage it this window then it will be even harder to break that top 6 which, at the moment, seems just within our reach.

And if they aren't available or obtainable in the summer mate?

Traditionally the biggest clubs don't tend to buy big in January, meaning relatively speaking if your willing to go big on fees etc you have more a clear run at a player.

A lot of teams will do major surgery on there squads durrig the summer meaning we will be in competition with them for top level players - no chance.

Not even mentioning that it wouldn't shock to see udcsoend most of the summer fending off interest in our own, lukaku, gueye, Coleman, Barkley, he'll even holgate will all likely be getting linked around constantly and the perception of us in the media and thus with layers will be negative, and cause doubt when recruiting due to players being unsure on if we are gonna retain our best.

.
Spot on mate. This is the only chance we have of signing the likes of VVD and even Dembele if Celtic. Even with BVD being injured I'd still br inclined to go for it.

Rumours are with van dijk that he isn't anywherecas badly injured as the s*n reported, the other papers just followed with there 3 months out line, saint haven't even announced the severity yet and he's seeing a second specialist soon. Player himself on Twitter seemed to suggest it wasn't a bad one.

If we are willing to Chuck 30m on sissoko, bid 45-60m on koulibaly and then try make out we couldn't persuade teams to sell in January it doesn't wash.

If we don't bring in what's needed its a decision are to not spend money as we are now on form and looking comfortable as best of the rest, ambition would be realising we could push on to challenge those above not settle for where we are, that's very much old Everton in January style.
